FAQ

How do I submit a post?

Thanks for helping out! You can either DM it or send the link via asks.

Why is [this] not a heritage post?

usually the reasoning is either that it doesn't have enough notes (minimum is 10k), or that the only "slur" used is queer. We have chosen not to mark posts using queer as heritage posts unless they are explicitly discussing its use as a slur, and taking pride in that.

Why don't you consider queer a slur (for this blog)?

Language evolves- the word queer has reached a point where it is used commercially and academically, and is often just used interchangeably with LGBT. For this reason, it is no longer a slur in the same sense as "faggot" or the like. Personally we still regard it as a slur specifically because its history as one and its former meanings hold importance to our identity.

Why you you switch between using I and We?

This blog is run by a system, and we have the tendency to use these first-person pronouns interchangeably. We'd rather not get farther into it on this blog.

I'm [insert queer identity] can I call myself a fag/dyke?

yes.

But I'm nervous because [identity related nuance or specifics].

Still yes.

Can I call myself a tranny?

Look, you can call yourself whatever you want if you feel it fits you. I don't actually care that much nor do I have the authority to grant you a faggot pass or whatever. You can do whatever you want forever and you need no one's permission. I love you be free

Can I say [queer slur] if I'm [queer identity]?

If you're using it to refer to another person, you should have their permission to use that term for them. Other than that, we think it's fine so ling as you're not using it in a derogatory way. Again, we're not an authority on this.

feel free to send asks, but please note that if you're asking one of the above questions, you may be ignored or simply referred to the FAQ. please don't take it personally; we just can't spend all our time answering variations on these same questions. When it comes to using language, use your judgement and be kind!

so i wore a pride flag pin to work the other day and the kids were all interested (obviously) (find me a classroom of preschoolers who are not obsessed with rainbows) (i'll wait) so they crowded around to see.

"aww!" they said, "it's a flag!!"

but the thing is: they're little. a lot of them don't really have a handle on all their mouth sounds yet.

such as, notably, that tricky tricky "L" sound.

Anonymous asked:

hi, I'm someone who (unfortunately) quietly identifies as a boydyke bc there's some very online ppl who would rip my throat out over it and I just wanna say that those posts earlier about women faggots and man dykes made my little intersex trans heart sing. its hard to find support even within our own community sometimes so seeing someone so loudly and proudly proclaim it really brightened my day

I AM a boydyke!!!!! No one can take that from me!!!!!! Not even the people who are so certain they can if they bully me hard enough.

I hope you have a happy pride, OP. You helped make mine ten times better. 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

with love,

your friendly neighborhood boydyke
