season 5 episode 3 of she-ra is a perfect tv show episode. period. it is both tense and funny. reflective and action-packed. the score is beautiful. catra and glimmer's softening dynamic feels totally natural. the environment of horde prime's ship is literally the perfect place for catra to finally start to realise what she's done. obviously there's the whole maze/corridors theme (as per the title) which reflects her psyche so well. but then you have the infinite expanse of space that really emphasises just how alone she is. and the cold, alien, sterile aspects of the ship that really emphasise just how human she is - how human she always has been. the flashbacks are so tender and easily invoke empathy for her, despite all she's done, then and now, and then the payoff with her freeing glimmer, sacrificing herself, and apologising to adora! her redemptive moment feels completely earned. all of this sandwiched between genuinely hilarious scenes of adora, bow, and entrapta, which relieve the tension so well.

and all of it, in the space of 21 minutes. in a "kids" show.
