WHAT THE MERCS WOULD ACTUALLY GET CAUGHT AND GO TO JAIL FOR, AFTER THE WAR

scout: see, it'd be something stupid. he'd probably get caught on a simple traffic stop with his family, and then they're gonna let him know they've got about fifty thousand dollars worth of cocaine in the trunk and they can't go down for it. well, scout's already in the car. now he's an accessory to the shit. now he can't let them all go down for it either. now they're running away from the cops, and if scout doesn't put his feet to the floor the second they're stopped, he's going to jail. chances are his mom'll bail him out though.

soldier: another man who would get arrested on the dumbest shit, except the real reason he's getting arrested is because he's combative with police. he'll argue, he'll yell, he'll scream, and eventually they will escalate force. so he will escalate force. then it will keep going and going and going until someone has either died or soldier has made his escape. the former will happen before the latter does. once he's in the cuffs, he'll calm down. the battle is about getting him in the cuffs.

pyro: alright, we all have to sit down and have an honest conversation about pyro. pyro has so many safety nets put into place that are so unstable that there may come a point at any time where the red or blu base is raided, and pyro is the one going to jail. the day that happens, the whole operation that mann co has set up is imploding. the administrator knows that. so the reality is, pyro can do whatever they want. the right people are paid off, and the police force look the other way. she's almost too invested in it, now. she's not willing to let this team go.

demo: tavish wouldn't be breaking the law. but tavish would be an unfortunate victim of circumstance, and tavish will have to choose whether he is going to defend himself or not. and he will. he will not allow himself to become a victim. he'll die trying, anyway, and he might! and he's aware of that. he's come to terms with that, somewhat. but if he's alive, he'll probably get out of town before the police arrive to his location. he refuses to go down for a crime he didn't commit, and if he doesn't have any information, then there's no reason for him to stick around. he has better to do.

heavy: depends on how long he stays with the doctor. if he stays with the doctor, he will also consistently run the risk of the man's crimes coming out. there's an underlying reason he travels. misha would force him to stay in one place, seclude himself, and that's never been the doctor's style. but they would make it work. but if he's not with the doctor, then he's not going to be running the risk of getting involved with american police. most he'll ever experience is xenophobia and a traffic ticket. he's too big anyway, his calm demeanor is naturally disarming to most people, and a cop wouldn't want to risk their body nor fill out the paperwork.

engineer: with the last name conagher, wherever that surname doesn't have pull is where they do have a lot of money to throw at a problem, but dell's not stupid. see, he has found himself in a situation where he is simply the cog in a very large machine, but his cog's connect to too many, much larger pieces. nobody can afford to see him go down for anything. dell maintains to this day a squeaky clean background report. there's nothing on the books to be found that could potentially incriminate him. try your luck with someone poorer than he is, you might get better results.

medic: this is a man constantly on the lam. do you know how there are some people who "don't have an evil bone in their body"? yeah, the medic has nothing but evil fucking bones, okay, he cannot help himself. he is the crack addict around crack. he is terminally curious, and his questions have answers stored in the meat muscle and fiber of your body. he must see what's going on in there. and he's starting to rack up a name for himself... he won't be able to hide for long. or hell, maybe he will. he's got friends who wipe people off the planet permanently. he's sure he'll be fine.

sniper: when this war is done, mick's outta the business. you must be stupid fi you think he's going to take anything but a low profile after the insane amount of money he has made dicking off in the deserts of new mexico. he is done. he has done enough crime to last him fifteen lifetimes over. if reincarnation is real, he is certain he is going to become the clay that turns into cat litter, and he is going to be pissed on and thrown into a landfill until he is reincarnated again. he's done. he's dropping off the face of the earth after the war.

spy: spy would get caught due to his connections with the rest of the team. unless he's visiting the likes of the defense boys or mick, spy is in critical danger. he is well aware the doctor will be someone he can't associate with come retirement, that man is wretched. he will never stop doing what he does. spy himself would stay on the low, at least until he runs out of money. truth is, spy wouldn't know how to transfer his skills back to a regular, white-collar job if he tried. he is far too used to what he does. he loves it, even. he couldn't think of anything else he would be this good at.

i’m cackling
