Some cute baby studies of my niece from over the holidays. She just turned one, and she has SO much energy it’s impossible to get her to sit still. Trying to draw a toddler on the move is HARD, but it makes for excellent quick-sketch practice!

Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride turned 20 years old recently!!! 🦋

This film will forever be one of my favorites, not just at Halloween but all year round. There’s something I find so beautiful and redeeming about the last scene, when Emily is finally able to let go of her past and be free. The imagery of a dead, decaying bride being raised to new life always makes me think of Ephesians 5 and what Christ has done for his bride, “so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.”

I don’t know if Tim Burton fully understood the truth that he was tapping into when he made this movie, but there are definitely hints of the gosple hidden its breathtaking stop-motion frames. A true classic!
