merlin might actually be one of the most tragic characters ever. imagine having all the power and knowledge of the future that merlin had and doing everything you could to change it, only to realise that it was all for nothing and that everything you did only ensured it would happen. nevermind how merlin slowly lost himself to his destiny and became a parallel of what he was fighting against. they really shouldve called the series the tragedy of merlin cause thats what it was with nobody getting a happy ending.

SingChimon: an analysis

(english is not my main language)

I think what they did with SingChimon is BRILLIANT for a couple of simple reasons:

Ironically, I have to take OhmNanon as an example (I know, I swear I'm over it, bear with me it'll all make sense): when Nanon agreed to do his one and only BL series, they couldn't give him a random co-actor, a new actor, or just any guy; they had to give him someone people knew and who would appreciate the pair as a duo and not just "Nanon and the other guy," so who better than Ohm? One of the star actors at the time for GMMTV, someone the fandom already knew as a friend of Nanon's and a key member of the leading trio Chimon, Nanon, and well, Ohm.

It wasn't a brilliant idea just because people already knew they were friends, no, but also because in the BL fandom, Ohm is a legend: we're talking about one of the protagonists of "Make It Right," a pioneering series of Thai BLs, we're talking about someone who has done countless series, even with major actors like Singto and First.

So, if anyone was going to be with Nanon (the star of GMMTV at the time), it had to be Ohm.

Now, why this huge analysis of the now dead OhmNanon? Simple: because, as already mentioned, they weren't a duo, they were a trio.

We're in the golden age of GMMTV: there were no regular couples yet, there were no fucking mascots (sorry, I hate them so much), and the series still had a plot where the protagonists didn't get together in episode 4.

The main trio were these three idiots (and I say this with love), two of them were paired up, and the third? Well, we had to give him someone too.

The GMMTV revolution takes place: 300 new actors are hired, most of them already known for iconic series like Until We Meet Again, 2moons2, and (obviously) Love By Chance.

With Chimon, the same problem comes up as with Nanon: you can't give him a random guy you found on the street (especially if you want a set couple), no, you have to give him someone known: Perth.

They pair up, a series comes out (personally, I find it mediocre, but that's not the point of this post), a mascot is created, and four more projects are announced.

People love them, a fandom is created, and GMMTV makes a lot of money.

In 2024, PerthChimon breaks up because Chimon needs a mental health break (my poor baby), and Santa is reassigned to Perth.

Thankfully, the fandom likes it, and people more or less move on.

But Chimon?

2025, Chimon returns : he's cast in various Het or drama series, and the world moves on…. But Chimon is also a veteran of BL series… We need to do something about that.

The fandom, however hasn't yet gotten over PerthChimon, so Chimon needs to be reintroduced to the BL world (for his own good, too) not only slowly, but also with someone who won't turn fans' noses up. It needs someone people appreciate and accept as a new "lover".

A little backtrack: as I already said, in the golden age of GMMTV Ohm, Chimon and Nanon could be seen together almost everywhere, okay? But there was one actor who appeared in more series than the three of them combined:

Ladies and Gentlemen, SSing

The original Side Character who could be found EVERYWHERE, from Puppy Honey (the ORIGINAL OffGun series—does anyone remember it? Because I do) to The Gifted.

An actor EVERYONE knew, from veterans to newcomers, but most importantly, someone people knew along with Chimon (Ohm and Wave, the rare pair no one expected).

So who, if not SSing, a friend of Chimon's that people know and love, could reintroduce our golden boy to the BL world.

An unexpected couple, but like OhmNanon, almost obvious, perfect for its familiarity, brilliant enough to distract from Matchpoint and the bullshit plot.

So yes, I love SingChimon, I love the exactly 5-second clip that introduced them, and I sincerely hope that this not only brings Chimon back into the world of series, but also reminds people of Sing's existence and what a fucking good actor he is.
