i dunno why but i find it entertaining seeing punk just off in the back taking pictures of birds and then proudly walking away looking at his bird picture :) i’m sure that bird pic will end up on his insta story with all his other travel photos at some point lol
love the genre of discourse that’s like “the world used to be [thing it never was] but now society is [I’m over thirty]”

saw this take that was ostensibly “2000s roh was not all that and you’re gassing mid” and i was like You’re Smoking Meth until the rebuttal was simply “i’ve seen all of these shows i’m talking about. you’re disagreeing bc it’s what your favorite opinion havers would say and 85% of you haven’t seen more than 5 matches.” and i was mad bc it was harsh and personally incorrect. but the general sentiment was accurate and nuanced Enough that i realized he had a point cuz yeah why do i have this strong of an opinion on an catalogue i haven’t seen at least 50% of the output from. i’ve seen max 20%. maybe i really am just regurgitating other ppl’s opinions instead of having my own. anyways if you see a million old roh clips from me it’s bc i’m trying to put in the work to earn the right to call this guy a fuckwit
Marina Shafir, you can’t hide behind those two skirts. They say behind every great man is a great woman. But behind these two slop-tarts is an even filthier slop-tart.

Many lgbt teenagers and young adults growing up on the internet today have socially conservative beliefs that they voice at all times that they got from their conservative parents which they’ve never challenged because they think the life experience of being gay or trans makes them politically progressive
This is why I hate it when people say something homophobic and then go “so you’re really accusing me, a whole ass lesbian, of being homophobic 🙄” like yeah
Just because you’re part of an oppressed party does not mean you cannot hold bias against other groups or members of your own group. Bias is learned and ingrained through society and family and it takes real work to unlearn it. No one is perfect, no one is without bias and you are in fact going to fuck up now and again—what matters is if you learn from it and grow.
this is what people are talking about when they say “do the work”

Also these promo pics. Love the composition of the left one (the casual arm around her husband's shoulder....)

i guess one of my core beliefs that’s so core i didn’t even realize it was a belief is that ancient history is over. Like ancient history can explain the world as it is now, but if you tell history as a “story” where the “characters” are tribes or empires or whatever then those stories are over. What’s happening now is according to different rules with different basic entities. And I’m realizing that the state of Israel for one makes more sense if these people think that ancient history is continuing, like there’s the destruction of the first temple and then the jews return, then the destruction of the second temple and now the jews returning as a continuous story about the same “character”, the jewish people. When i guess I haven’t even put those in the same context; the state of israel is post-WWII stuff, like taiwan and the partition of india. It’s global industrial capitalist history

The men of Jackass were frequently, nakedly homoerotic; they were dorky, skinny, more like boys who would be bullied than the alpha males most often seen meting out punishment […] none of them leading men or heartthrobs, all of them cheerfully, grungily fatalistic. These men loved each other madly and fraternally, occasionally kissing, their desire for proximity appearing to arise from the muddling of terror and eroticism inherent in being made aware of one’s mortality — what the art critic Leo Steinberg described as “the condition of being both deathbound and sexed.”
