When I tell that I LOVE solarpunk

image

Oh, I remember this, the edit was done by youtuber Waffle to the left.

They didn’t just cut out the parts with the oat milk, they skillfully edited over all the god-damn branding and replaced the audio.

image
image
image

But what I still find most hilarious about this whole commercial is the fact that everything they show in this solar punk world seems to be made with sustainable, zero waste and reusable materials.

Everything EXCEPT THE FUCKING CHOBANI BRANDED STUFF!
The only plastic you see in this whole commercial is all the straight to the landfill packaging made by the very corporation that tries to sell how sustainable and “green” they are.
Unintentional self satire at its finest.

They couldn’t even show their yogurt and milk in (basically infinitely reusable) glass containers because they pretty much only sell their shit in plastic

image
image

It is such a perfect example of the true face of “green” capitalism, it’s hilarious.

The punk in this solarpunk comes from cutting the corporation out of the picture

ALSO

Another really interesting thing about this edit is that they changed the label on the side of the apple-picking machine.

image
image

From “donations” to “commons”. It’s a subtle change, but it makes a huge difference in the world-building of the video. The former implies that this big orchard belongs to an owner and that they’re donating the fruits to “the less fortunate” (and, by extension, that poverty is still a thing); the latter implies that the orchard belongs to everyone and that the fruits are free to take in the spirit of solidarity.

Waffle To The Left brought out the potential in this gorgeous video and made it an actual solarpunk utopia — without brands and without corporate pandering, complete with true common ownership over land and resources.

ive always rly liked the idea of a member of a group of adventurers having what everyone assumes is very well trained hawk and then at the end of their journey its casually revealed that thats actually just his buddy whos a shapeshifter and just rly likes being a hawk

the guy also like thinks everyone knows bc he never tries to hide the fact that the hawk is a person but everyone assumes hes always just joking. like the others being like “damn its crazy how he knows exactly what you want him to do its like he knows english or something.” and the guy is just like “well yeah thats his first language so ofc he’s fluent??” and they all go “haha good one” and move on, leaving him confused

they just think hes a quirky guy that really loves his pet and says things like “the 9 of us” even tho there are clearly only 8 people! he just cares about the bird so much he counts it as a group member haha !

Sometimes I’m talking to a child like hey I’m not mad. I’m not even disappointed really. Your classmates however are going to beat you with sticks if we don’t do something about this.

Listen I know you like clicking the pen. I even have clicked a pen myself once or twice. However.

This is the sorta segment I wish still existed in kids’ shows. Soothing voiceover, mellow music, no flashy graphics. Just a calm behind-the-scenes look at something you might call mundane but that most of us would never have a clue about if no one pulled the curtain back to reveal its inner workings.

Okay but imagine being in kindergarten and seeing something like this, you would absolutely change your mind about wanting to be a fire fighter or teacher or whatever Job you’ve been told is cool and possible to grow up to do because wait a minute it’s just like play-doh, there’s so much it’s kept in trash cans, you can use your hands to smear icing everywhere? It smells like cinnamon buns all the time?! Yes please!

I vaguely remember having a field trip to a bakery in kindergarten and thinking croissants were magical and that I wanted to make them in the future cuz kneading dough looked fun.

This is way more engaging and easier to watch than those sped-up videos with no voiceover and trashy pop music playing over the top.

It actually does make me remember similar segments in shows I watched growing up, like that one program. I don’t remember what exactly the segment was about but it followed a young boy, and he briefly mentioned stopping at a friend’s house and trying goat milk for the first time.

Very little else stuck with me but it sure made me curious about goat milk.
