All this ai “smart assistant” crap being pushed on the average tech user and I still can’t get an automatically generated schedule for chores and administrative tasks that doesn’t overload one day with too many phone calls and appointments, can roughly predict my energy level based on trends in how much I get done day to day (and maybe some smart watch data), and updates itself when I fail to do something or if I overslept or something.
But even if I could have that, I don’t know if I would want it, because that information would all go onto someone corporate somewhere to be sold to advertisers or palantir or something
When creating a character, there’s a lot of questions you ask yourself. Whether it’s an original character or one you’ve been playing for a long time, using a character sheet to get to know your character better can always be a nice idea. With it’s help, you’ll be able to think about things you didn’t necesarily thought about, and ask some important questions to yourself that might activate your character’s voice, or help you to get your muse back with them. Everyone has their favorite character sheets, some people prefer to have a lot of questions, some others like it a bit more vague, so here’s a masterlist of the character sheets I found on various websites and found quite interesting, plus some other things that could be used to help you see, for example, how other character view yours.
With these sheets, you could also try to find your character’s Jung and Enneagram Type or use the Moral Alignment tool. All of these things can be really useful to get a better grip on a character.
Then, if you’re trying to create a character, and do not have many ideas, or get stuck, I’d suggest for you to roam around TVTropes, which gives you a lot of tropes used for character creation. Maybe you could try to mix a few of these and create an original character?
Or, if you’re a skillful writer and know how to make your character different from another, make a list of characters in fiction you happen to find interesting and why. Try to keep it short. Then, maybe, try to mix and match things from two or three characters, take a character and change their backstory, to see what would change. Play with them to inspire yourself and create something new, original and truly yours.
Oh, and here’s a little guide to Mary-Sues and OCs, just in case you want to make sure your character isn’t going to become a Mary-Sue or a Gary-Stu
And last but not least, this article about building fictional character definitely seemed interesting to me, and is full of many other links that could guide you during the creating of your character and help you file one of these sheets.
If you’re a disabled young person, you’ve most likely been hit with the “pfft you think you’re in pain now? Just wait til you’re my age” bullshit from older people at least once. Everyone talks about how invalidating it is
But I haven’t seen anybody mention how it’s terrifying, too. Yes, I know health deteriorates with age. I know that old age is a disability unto itself. I know that the healthiest person alive will start getting aches and pains past the age of 40 and may even need mobility aids
I know all this stuff. And it always makes me think “yeah, if I can’t walk without joint pain even while using mobility aids AT AGE 21, how painful will life be for me at the age where it gets painful for everyone?”
And it’s hard not to feel like I’m doomed, y'know? Where most people get a period of health that they wish they appreciated more when they start to lose it, my starting point was a body that doesn’t work properly and it’s only gonna get worse from there. It’s worse every fucking year.
TLDR stop telling disabled young people that their pain will only get worse to the point of being unimaginable as they age, WE FUCKING KNOW
Grief is so fucking wild. It sinks into your muscles, forces itself to be felt. It steals your appetite, floods your brain with cortisol. It makes you so, so tired.
If someone you know is grieving, telling them “just let me know what I can do” means nothing. They can’t. They don’t know. And the small things are too embarrassing to ask for.
Bring them a cheese platter. Pre-Cut fruit. Peanut butter pretzels. Protein shakes (like slimfast) Food that requires no prep and does not create dishes.
Do the dishes. Take out the trash. Sweep the floor. Vacuum the carpet. They won’t ask you to do this, but it will help.
A bottle of acetaminophen honestly might help more than flowers. Grief really can cause muscle aches.
one of the funnier parts of having online friends is when they casually reference something that seems weird as hell from your perspective and you have to go “okay so is this like a reigional/cultural difference or is your specific life experience just insane”
it just dawned on me that there are probably people on tumblr who came to fandom through tumblr and tumblr is the only fannish platform they know how to interact on and nobody new is ever going to pick up all the old, old catchphrases from fandom wank ever again
