The Reblog Blog

Here's where I reblog things. My main blog is ambsace.tumblr.com . That one is meant for more art than anything else. Let the reblogging commence.

But when I say the “wholesome and funny” YouTube short I have been handed of students surprise showing their teachers 10+ year old photos of themselves and most them were emo/goth in some way and every single one now has medium brown beach waves and is wearing head to toe beige and immediately screams and hides the photo like it’s the most embarrassing thing in the world is a hallmark of a deeply insidious tendency to associate socially acceptable WASPy aesthetics with maturity and responsibility and perpetuates the idea that everyone grows up, “gets right” and becomes the most digestible unobtrusive heterosexual I’m “taking it too seriously”

“It’s not that serious” oh but it issssss because every day we perpetuate the idea that non-conformity of any kind to the white straight middle class standard is inherently immature and gets “left behind” when someone becomes a socially acceptable adult

This idea that maturity is conformity is everywhereeee if you look for even a moment

^^^ This. The COMBINED population of the Twin Cities (Minneapolis and St. Paul) is only about 2.6 million. That's not small town numbers, sure, but compared to NYC (20.1 million in the metropolitan area)? LA? (12.9 million "")?

Minneapolis is being made an example of because they're the most bitesized target, and if you're doing a shock and awe campaign like this you need to not choke on national tv.

(And they're still having to fight for it. Minneapolis isn't taking this laying down, and more power to them for their courage.)

Anonymous asked:

if your brother thinks he should be from the 1960s maybe you could draw him & only him from that era. worst possible compromise. even greater anachronisms.

I have made some memes to commemorate the day

Official Post of Massachusetts

the grinch is fucked up right. he was created specifically as a critique of the commercialization of christmas, but now all his edge has been sanded off. now he's a generic mascot for "hates christmas," which is great to have because the commercialization of christmas has become so overbearing that that's a demographic you can market to! and now he's just part of the Christmas Fold. he's santa's edgier joker counterpart. he has become the very thing he sought to destroy. back in november i checked out a customer with a $1100 order and most of it was grinch merchandise

it doesn't matter how many times you explain that trans men and mascs don't need to be explicitly mentioned in regressive legislation for them to be affected by said legislation, that they are largely swept in with "females" or "transgenderism" implicitly and that this lack of acknowledgement by these bills is intentional and part of the systemic issue of transmasculine invisibility which is exactly what makes it look like these bills don't affect us, because every time one of these bills actually passes there's always at least someone who has to bring up unprompted how this "proves" trans men have it easier

that this lack of acknowledgement by these bills is intentional

I wish people fully grasped what this means. because most seem to struggle to understand how being deliberately unnamed is not the same thing as simply being forgotten. it is an active, knowing choice. we are erased, but we are not forgotten by these people drafting these bills.

they do not forget that trans men exist, despite popular narratives. the fact that it is a popular joke that "they don't even know trans men exist" is, in fact, evidence (to me) that people don't see what's going on. they do not forget about us. they know who trans men are. the fact that they sometimes avoid mentioning us by name does not mean that they actually have forgotten about us, as evidenced by the fact that we are typically referenced in some other way (just not with the words "trans men") in nearly all of the "trans women only/targeted" legislation. they very definitely have not forgotten us, but the difference is that their wording is focused on misgendering us and talking about us in the same way they generally talk about pericis women.

and if you are not familiar with how christofascists discuss pericis women, then it LOOKS like "forgetting" or "offhand comments" or as if it isn't taking up much of their mental bandwidth. but if you take their facade at face-value, you fail to notice the subtleties to their words. they interweave trans men into every single trans-related narrative out there. yes, including the ones where they're trying to demonize trans women as dangerous predators to women. especially those, actually. the fact that you think they're only speaking about trans women in those instances points to how pervasive the ignorance is. and I don't blame people for being ignorant of how christofascists think and operate, I really don't. but holy shit. it's hard to describe just how much they are, in fact, definitely thinking about trans men and mascs in basically every statement they ever make about trans people.

I cannot underscore enough just how much christofascists think about women & people they see as women. it is a massive part of their ideology and the whole Thing with them is that they wanna pretend they're not obsessed with women*. bc the whole thing is pretending that women* are unimportant to them, because that is a form of inferiority, yet they still have to constantly reinforce how inferior they think of women* as, and they are still required to live with and sexually subjugate women*, but they need to (pretend to) be nonchalant about it. but like. it is still their every waking fucking thought, seemingly. literal obsession. but they can't LOOK obsessed because that is part of their ideology, in many ways. the quietness may look like they're forgetting we exist, but that cannot be farther from the truth. there may be a few small cases where they genuinely do forget, but that is not at all the norm for these people.

*women and people they see as/assign to be women

'Saint Giles his Bells' by Charles Altamont Doyle,
(1832 - 1893).

That deserves zooming in.

"The artist depicted his perception of ghosts as personified memories brought back by the bells as they ring at midnight in the nocturnal sky above St. Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh. His spectral picture of St. Giles exhibits a flow of ghosts haunting the city. Among them there are villains, heroes, celebrities and individuals of the mob: Montrose being driven to his execution; departing for the Crimean War in 1854, the 4th Light Infantry; Prince Charles escorted by the Clans; George IV arriving in a carriage; fishwives and agents of the Auld Town Guard." [x]

So the artist was Arthur Conan Doyle's father. He was an illustrator who didn't succeed as much as he'd hoped, and ended up depressed and alcoholic in a lunatic asylum. He liked painting fairies, and in 1888 he sketched this incredible shitpost of a self-portrait, where at the bottom of the paper it says "that’s his guardian angel over the left, utterly disgusted". Poor guy.

what i learned from 8 hours of shirtless men competing to star in a hallmark movie, december 13, 2025, in the washington post

i can't stop laughing tbh. i need everyone to read this

don't infantilise yourself. you are not a child who needs an adult to make your decisions for you. you are a splendid and magnificent autocrat and you are consulting your trusted advisors. you are exercising great wisdom by inviting an expert to give their opinion before making your ruling. often the path of wisdom is to say "good morning, I'm trying to [perform task] and I have a question about [aspect], can you tell me who I should speak to for advice?" before you do it. sometimes the path of wisdom is to hire a plumber. there are times when you cannot do things for yourself but that doesn't mean you are not an adult. you don't need a grown-up. you need a specialist.

this has come up a couple of times so let me be really really clear:

the path of wisdom is sometimes to hire a plumber.

the path of wisdom is always to hire an electrician.

They should invent a method of asking for reassurance that nobody secretly hates you that doesn't make people secretly hate you.

Rain ghoul core

I wanted to put this one the previous post but it was long and this is a tangent but- In regards to the hypothetical "If House was my doctor I'd just tell him everything. Rip to all his other patients but I'm different."

The whole point of the show is that you wouldn't. Like a major theme of the show is about how the various shames and stigmas and habitual dishonesties that plague our societies both metaphorically and literally kill us. "Everybody lies" isn't just a cynical catchphrase, it's the shows thesis. Because of how we operate as a society, everyone feels compelled to suppress and hide things and that inevitably leads to suffering.

And there are plenty of episodes where this is obvious, ie "I cheated on my partner and gave them an STD." But there's also much more of "This little girl went through early puberty and because of the way our society stigmatizes women's bodies her single father never discussed puberty with her and she was so afraid and ashamed of her new pubic hair that she tried to shave it without telling anyone and mutilated herself, leading everyone to think she'd been abused and throwing off the whole case until House figured out her hormones were going crazy because she'd been exposed to her father's low T medicine, which he hid because of how our society regards masculinity, which he started taking because he began dating a younger woman (because of shame stemming from our society's unrealistic expectations wrt sex in relationships) which he was hiding from his kids, because of shame regarding our societies toxic views on monogamy."

A particular episode stands out as a really good example. S06E15 "Private Lives," which aired in 2010 but was fairly prescient about where social media was heading. The patient was a blogger who documented literally every moment of every day for her followers. She made it very clear she left *nothing* out, from her and her boyfriend's sex life to, eventually, asking for feedback from her followers on whether to get her heart valve replaced with one from a pig or a "vegan" plastic one. She handed the whole blog over to House as soon as he took the case and the team poured through the whole thing. Surely this is proof you're wrong about everybody lying, the team says to House. She's give us her whole life and you still can't find out what's wrong! Spoiler, it turned out the crucial symptom that allowed House to put it all together? Was the one thing she *didn't* include in the blog- Her bowel movements. Shame and stigma around talking about *poop* nearly killed this woman. It was also a detail that should have been picked up immediately by a normal doctor, who would have asked about her bowel movements as part of the standard checklist of diagnostic questions. But this woman was so confident that she'd laid out every relevant detail of her life in her blog, she wouldn't answer those questions, obfuscating what she was actually ashamed of underneath a pile of curated, rationalized, narritivized junk she could pretend was proof of a lack of shame and not simply a skill at creative writing.

When I say "I'd just tell House everything" is ridiculous, I don't just mean "well, because of the way the show works, you HAVE to be hiding SOMETHING." I mean literally, you- because you are a human being- are ashamed of *something.* And because you are a human being, the more info you try to give House the more deeply you will bury whatever it is you're actually ashamed of. And, because of the way the show works, that *will* end up being the key to what's making you sick.
