Finished the embroidered book! One more thing off The Pile! Though The Pile is still at 8, because I started a shirt recently.
Honestly, the binding isn't great. I took a bookbinding class in college, but that was just over a decade ago and I haven't had any practice in years. There are at least 5 things I could complain about, but it's not awful, and I'm glad it's finally done.
I started the embroidery at least 4 years ago, and abandoned it a few flowers in. It's cotton floss on a cotton damask fabric that's been in my stash forever. I cut out the pages and cover boards back when I started the embroidery, and I must have been thinking of the fact that it had been so long since I did any bookbinding, because I'd meant for it to be coptic stitch from the beginning instead of something more complicated. I think my class binder is somewhere in my parents basement, but I couldn't find it and had to look up a tutorial online.
I still have multiple blank books from that 2015 bookbinding class that I haven't used for anything, as so often happens to blank books that feel too fancy or precious. Maybe I'll stick swatches in this one.

I call this hairstyle ‘ticking time buns’

[ID: animated digital art of a clockwork person with golden gears and a heart-shaped white porcelain face. They are wearing white gloves, a gold and white cloak, and on their head are large round clockwork pieces with moving parts, resembling a space buns hairstyle. End description]
