the lack of faith in a story we've all been waiting on for three years.... stampede wasnt even a 1:1 of the manga, it was never going to be that. its going to be its own version like 98 is, like how the first print of trigun is its own version and maximum is its own as well. its a different telling of the same story. details and characters are going to be altered, repurposed. brad is an entirely different character from the source material, as is jessica. livio wasnt even around for 98, and he was in stampede. roberto doesnt even exist in the source material, he is a stampede original like how the ship crew were original for 98.

people can be disappointed sure. but to say stargaze is horrible and shitty only two episodes in because theyre making good on their word of making it its own unique story is just.... disrespectful to the love and effort thats been poured into the creative project.

You don't have to believe that you're a good person who deserves good things. You just have to believe that you're a person who deserves the things all people deserve.

You can't get from "I'm the Worst" to "I'm a worthy and lovable person" without passing through "I'm just a regular fuckup like everybody else."

Try it on. If you're really addicted to being mean to yourself, you can start by framing it as I'm Not Special. Embrace being a regular fuckup like everybody else.
