Destiny fans who point to Saint calling Osiris his “brother” pre-exile to disprove his romantic feelings are cowards.
Little is known of Saint when he was first resurrected. But like all guardians, he knew nothing about the world. And one of, if not the first person he meets is the Speaker. Someone he grows to call his Father.
He knows friendships. He knows family.
So when he meets Osiris, gets closer to him, begins to care about him, there are only so many feelings Saint can name.
He doesn’t know what he feels. He’s drawn more to Osiris than his friends, so he must be family. This must be brotherly love.
So he calls him ‘Brother’.
But he does not simply want to fight alongside and banter with Osiris. No, he wants to be near him, to hold him, to say things no ‘brother’ should even think.
Care, and affection and adoration so deep he must figure out what it could mean.
And by the time he does, by the time he utters the words I love you, it is already too late.
Nothing will pull Osiris from his path, from the spiral that will lead to his exile.
And nothing will stop Saint from following.
His love for Osiris will not drag him down. It will be his choice to fall.
Also the idea that a person’s emotions Can’t change over time is silly
