In Romeo and Juliet, Mercutio called Tybalt "Prince of Cats" because there was a book, popular at the time, with a cat prince named Tybalt in it. He was making a pop culture reference. Therefore, I move, that in a modern Romeo and Juliet retelling, Tybalt should be named Garfield.
the floating head of wisdom
Please don't fall victim to internet misinformation. There is no floating head. It's a regular horse, it's neck is just hidden due to the position of the camera. I made an image to help you understand the what's actually going on.
Thank you for the clarification
i’m so into the idea of buck relating to hen’s situation bc of his experiences with bobby during the whole embolism/blood thinners arc? like the comparisons are so juicy
bc on its own, bobby’s decision to bench him for medical reasons was not a bad one. in fact, given the potential risks, it might have been a good call if it had been purely a call made on medical basis that he was applying consistently across the team. if that was the situation, buck wouldn’t have had a case to make a lawsuit out of! but bobby WAS projecting (the parallels between his own experiences in bobby begins again and bucks s3 opening episodes are all over the place) and he applied double standards on buck compared to what bobby did for himself and the rest of the team in comparable situations. buck crazy escalated with the lawsuit (hello where are your union reps?!?) but bobby mishandled the whole thing terribly as a captain.
so it’s interesting that his empathy on that front may be blinding him to pretty significant differences. while buck had no idea that his leg cramps were a red flag, hen knowingly hid her tremors and blackouts. chimney’s decision was first inclined to actually be more lenient; HEN is the one who pushed him to treat her like everyone else instead of giving her undue treatment bc of their personal relationship
and then you have eddie, who left the team once of his own volition and had his own beef arc when bobby wouldn’t let him back. but unlike buck, bobby’s decision in that instance had merit. it was upheld by the narrative and eddie himself, bc eddie WAS hiding his significant mental health issues and downplaying the impact of the shooting and all of the trauma that preceded it. so of course he’s inclined to see chimney’s point of view, bc he got the same treatment when a captain was making a call at his best.
anyway i think this potential situation is so fascinating and im excited to see if it plays out anywhere along these emotional through-lines!!!
"Boy oh boy, as a fellow mental health professional can I level with you? I have NEVER had something fail so spectacularly. Like I go to a grocery store to deescalate an active shooter situation and that doesn't go great, some really beautiful man named Edmundo starts doing my job for me, and I'm like "wow, maybe I'm losing my touch." So I'm invited to do what I think is going to be a softball mediation, right? Like simple workplace argument, close knit family-type. I figure I'll use it to build my confidence up again. But noooo. I go in there and the vibes are atrocious. Everyone is so bitchy and cutting and throwing out new dynamics. I felt SO unprepared for how enmeshed they really are. Like the boss? The captain?!? Married to the guy with long leg's sister! Oh. Oh, I didn't know those were your parents. Is that why they didn't ask you to run the intervention? Conflict of interest? I mean, yeah, no that makes sense, but I was under the impression you did therapy for all of them? Oh, okay, yeah I mean that seems unethical, but so does literally everything they do so it makes sense."
Mel practically hanging onto his arm like a monkey.
Langdon dropping everything when he saw she was hurt.
He made a joke to make her laugh and she was able to read the humor in his smile like a book whereas other times the jokes go over her head.
She then made a joke from a year prior that only he would understand, and he still remembered.
Dana and Perlah being confused and hit with "it's an inside thing".
Mel being uncomfortable and overstimulated and Langdon clocking that shit IMMEDIATELY.
Langdon ushering the police out of her room to give her space and even turning off the lights to make sure she won't be overstimulated and giving her a safe, quiet space to decompress.
All the little things between them is making me insane.
They knew each other for a DAY, mind you.
A SINGLE DAY. ALMOST A YEAR AGO.
NOW THEY'RE BONDED LIKE FERAL CATS.
