people trying to say byler is not a queerbait is hilarious because that is just completely wrong.
I’m not angry that byler didn’t happen, I’m angry about how they dealt with it. I shipped steddie in season 4, but I didn’t feel angry when that didn’t happen, because there was no in show hints to it happening. It wasn’t used in interviews, it wasn’t used in merch. Byler, however, is entirely different, because it did all of that, and I don’t know how people don’t understand it.
Yes this is entirely inspired by one of my comments saying ‘no hate’ then writing a very rude comment about how we were ‘given enough’ even though that ‘enough’ was a shitty coming out scene and the only queer couple most likely breaking up

Having a queer character believe he won't find love and proving him right is not good writing.
Having a character grow up in solitary confinement and then ripping her away from the only family she's ever known to live a life of solitude once again is not good writing.
Having a character be in love with his best friend and then just compare it to a high school crush is not good writing.
Having Eleven say that Mike has always been the person who truly understood her after showing us in the previous seasons that he only sees her as a superhero IS NOT GOOD WRITING.
Having two girls be abused by a man with power for the majority of their lives only to leave them dead and alone as a direct consequence of the trauma they suffered IS VILE WRITING
So I saw this person post this on TikTok and I completely agree, some people in the comments were saying that they were being “nitpicky, and it was set in the 80s where there wasn’t a lot of queer or poc people so we should be happy with what we got” first of all look at who didn’t watch the video, second of all I had this to say in response.
: It may be set in the 80s but it’s not the actual 80s, having rep just for the sake of rep is worthless, it doesnt do anything for the communities it claims to represent and it could even be downright harmful
That being said I want to represent these communities better in my rewrite, I am a queer person however I am very fortunate to grow up in a mostly accepting family. I’m also white and therefore there are some experiences I fear I won’t be able to accurately portray. For this reason I would love it if anyone is queer or a person of colour would message me anything you think should be represented about these characters experiences.

I’m mad and I’m disappointed, right now have no more words.
As I’ve said I will be rewriting the show, I’m not decided yet on if I’m going to rewrite the whole thing or just season 5, I would love to rewrite the whole thing but honestly I don’t know how much justice I’ll be able to do the first 4 seasons, I loved them and there’s not much I would change but let me know what you want to see.
