Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light. (Hm. Might replace this soon.)

Call me Robin! She/her, 28. 💖💜💙 Blacklist “#vigilantes manga spoilers” and "#bnha manga spoilers" if you don't want to see them. Once the episode has aired, I change to "spoilers" (not "manga spoilers") for a couple days, then stop tagging. I'm one of Kankri’s writers and Aranea’s writer at @befriendus, and was previously narrative director. Icon by the amazing mercutiodidntdieforthis!

This was once a mix of Homestuck blogging with miscellaneous other fandom and day to day life. Nowadays, it's mostly my interests and some original BNHA posts, shifting hard into Shepherds of Haven lately, but that probably doesn't mean I'm done Homestuck posting forever! Especially about the Signless.

On Twitter at @StandUpIngenium, Bluesky at @standupingenium.bsky.social, one day I'll return to @RyeRhythmic on one of those sites. Main blog of drjulien/falconfriend (Ninjago), youreenoughnow (TRC), and captionedpoetry.

If something does happen to Tumblr, I would love to see you all on my fandom Bluesky. Right now it skews BNHA, but a lot of it is stuff I wish I was posting here too anyway!

I’m standupingenium.bsky.social

If you follow there and we’re mutuals / Beloved Oomfies, please lmk who you are!

Hi hi! I’ve decided to start a little series named “Sewing with Siren”. It’ll cover basic in garment construction and how to start basic patterning. (aka your first year of fashion school so hey if any of you are applying for school I got you covered). I hope this turns out??? Helpful??? To someone? LMFAO I know I ramble on a lot but I always thought that knowing about grainlines and stuff was important even for people who just sew for fun (cosplayers and people making their own lolita stuff) but there wasn’t really a resource for it. Next week we get to go over pattern drafting. OH BOY.

I think this series is going to be great, especially if you’re just starting out with sewing!

as a certified horse person i very much enjoy the ancient greek concept of the taraxippos, a kind of spirit whose entire purpose was to scare the horses at racetracks so they would freak out and toss the charioteer and injure him. “racetrack’s haunted” is a perfectly reasonable thing to believe about horses and what they do. can you imagine if before the kentucky derby all the jockeys had to offer sacrifices to the horse ghost so the horses won’t get scared? i think we should start doing that again.

im being told a lot of things about umamusume right now

pedestrians are often so oblivious to When There Is A Hill

many times I have been told something with the phrase “campus is pretty flat” and I go “oh it’s a hill” and they think about it and they’re like “ohhhhh it is a hill” it’s funny

the things you don’t notice when you’re not fighting gravity

One time my grandfather picked me up from the airport and was driving me home and asked if I wanted to stop at McDonald’s. And I was like sure, we can stop at the one in [town].

And he was like “we don’t need to go to [town], we’ll just go to the one in your town. And I said my town doesn’t have a McDonald’s. And he was like "okay, we’ll go to the closest one”. And I was like right, the one in [town]. And he said “that’s twenty minutes away from your house, you really don’t have one closer?” And when I confirmed that he said “well, it doesn’t have to be McDonald’s. It can be whatever fast food place is in your town.” And I was like there is no fast food in my town. There is no food in my town period unless you want to stop for gas station hot dogs. And he was like “that doesn’t make any sense. Then what do you do when you need food?” And I said I drive to [town]. And he said “every single time you need food or groceries?” And I said yeah, that’s sort of how the fixed nature of buildings work. And then we drove in silence for ten minutes while this man tried to wrap his head around the fact that I had to drive twenty minutes to town to go grocery shopping.

Anyway a lot of you remind me of this experience pretty much every time the urban/rural divide comes up on this website.

A fun thing about fiction with large casts of characters is that sometimes you’ll have a Spicy Bananas moment where every single character has an identical yet wildly atypical experience of some very mundane thing, and slowly you realise that the author isn’t Making A Point, they just think that’s normal.

Thinking fondly today of my OFA!Hagakure AU, wherein she just covers up her uses of OFA superstrength for a while by going “whoaaaaa, earthquake!!! are we having some kind of earthquake??”

daftpatience:

and what if the character wasn’t directly rejected but at every turn they were made to experience situations that made them feel completely irrefutably unwanted. what then

you tell me that all the bad people are stupid. you tell me that stupid people should be killed, bred out, that evolution will leave them behind. i tell you that’s not funny, that i have an intellectual disability, that i want to be allowed to love and to have children of my own. that maybe it’s not the end of the world if “stupid” people get to stay. that my caregiver loves me and takes care of me. that she reads to me. that i get by with my little accessibility tools scattered about the house, my aac, and by being gentle. you tell me it’s a joke. clearly you aren’t like those REAL eugenicists, you only talk like them. you tell me surely i must agree- all the bad people, the ones who take away my rights, they must not be smart, they must be lacking some information to make them like this. i tell you smart people have hurt me more than anyone else because they know better and they still choose cruelty. these people in power aren’t lacking anything. they have all the resources in the world and brains that work the way they want. they don’t know struggle, they doom everyone who does. you don’t stop talking about “stupid people” like we’re a disease to eradicate. i note you down as one more smart person who has failed me by choosing to be cruel when you knew better

Got home this evening from errands and realized I’ve been running around town looking like some kind of survival horror game protagonist.

I’m out here in my jeans and boots and hoodie and old green field jacket, just carrying groceries, but I look like I should be running around and yelling “Mia!!” and/or “Rose!!” a lot.
