transparent-plastic-robotgirl:
I love animation history and one of the things that always baffled me was how did animators draw the cars in 101 Dalmatians before the advent of computer graphics?
Any rigid solid object is extremely challenging for 2D artists to animate because if one stray line isn’t kept perfectly in check, the object will seem to wobble and shift unnaturally.
Even as early as the mid 80’s Disney was using a technique where they would animate a 3D object and then apply a 2D filter to it. This practice could be applied to any solid object a character interacts with: from lanterns a character is holding, to a book (like in Atlantis), or in the most extreme cases Cybernetic parts (like in Treasure Planet).
But 101 Dalmatians was made WAY before the advent of this technology. So how did they do the Cruella car chase sequence at the end of the film?
The answer is so simple I don’t know why it didn’t occur to me sooner:
They just BUILT the models and painted them white with black outlines 🤣
That was the trick. They’re not actually 2D animated, they’re stop motion. They were physical models painted white and filmed on a white background. The black outlines become the lineart lines and they just xeroxed the frame onto an animation cel and painted it like any other 2D animated frame.
That’s how they did it! Isn’t that amazing? It’s such a simple low tech solution but it looks so cool in the final product.
@transparent-plastic-robotgirl check it out
omg that’s cool as heck!!! 🌸

I searched up the line “you cannot give me anything, because all the you have is stolen” from Pluribus and somewhat ironically the google ai perceived that as a prompt insulting it.
I didn’t mean it in that way but, yknow what? I agree. The LLM is built off of people’s work who didn’t consent; it can give me nothing of its own, just a generation of plausible words.

I haven’t seen the OG trilogy so I can’t comment on the first but the second.
So here is the thing. Jedi didn’t forbid marrige or romantic relationships. It forbid attachment. Anidala was for better or worse, really extra. Anakin was too much attached to Padmé for the council to ever be okay with it. And that was the problem. We can do a full on psychological analisys on Anakin but it was, from his point of view, to be so attached to Padmé and also the Jedi Order. He just couldn’t have the later if he publicly had the former.
Hope I explained it well. There is a lot of other factors too, but I don’t wanna invite the “Jedi were actually the bad guys” kind of people into the conversation.
The Order absolutely forbids romantic relationships and marriage.
They take babies from families and consider the parent- child bond to be a path to the Darkside of all things. You can’t get anymore obvious when the Jedi rejected a nine year old Anakin for missing and worrying about his left behind mother, who was literally a slave.
The Jedi response was to judge and reject the former slave child to his face rather than freeing his mother!
Ki Adi Mundi can have his own harem and multiple daughters out of respect for his species but he can’t /love/ them or devote any real affection or attention because that would be attachment.
A Jedi knight could fuck a thousand people and leave a thousand bastards as long as he didn’t care. If you happened to be female or child bearing you are screwed sixteen ways to the stars; you either abort, give up the child, or leave the Order with no support, no income, and completely alone.
The Order doesn’t demand celibacy, just no connection to any consequences of sexual activity.
Obi Wan probably being a dead beat dad to Korkie Kryze is okay, just not Anakin being a loving husband and excited dad to be.

Oh my favorite is the Council of psychic space wizards never knew that Anakin’s mother was left a slave because Qui Gon never told them and neither did Anakin in the decade they had custody of him.
These chucklefucks need everything spoon fed to them in small sentences despite Anakin missing his mother is mentioned in the bantha shit interrogation scene of the nine year old.
Either the Council are too stupid to be able to breathe and /ask/ where the small child in front of them came from or they are too callous to care.
Which is more likely and has actual physical support from the literal films?
I wonder.

Because it runs completely counter to her own interests, self respect, and exists solely to make the adulterous, disastrous love affair of Rhaegar and Lyanna more palatable.
Elia Martell marries the crown prince in all acceptable honor and suffers greatly to give him a daughter in the first year of the marriage. Rhaegar rewards her with national humiliation at Harrenhal by publicly declaring his interest making his cousin’s underage betrothed his mistress. Much how Aegon the Unworthy tried to do poor Naerys but was stopped by Aemon.
Speaking of parallels to Aegon the Unworthy, why the in the seven hells would a Dornish princess be happy her husband was trying to recreate Daemon Blackfyre? A Dornish queen and her half Dornish son facing off against a favored high born bastard; a centuries old conflict that ended in Elia’s own lifetime. Elia might has well be sharpening the blade Rhaegar uses to cut the throats of their children as to approve of him fucking a rival into Lyanna Stark.
Rhaegar could have taken a discrete mistress or carry on a quiet affair nearly any other woman on the planet. Instead he chooses the daughter of one Lord Paramount and betrothed of another. He runs off with Lyanna and kicks off a war. Leaving Elia alone on Dragonstone. Leaving Elia and their children in reach of /Aerys/.
If you insist on making Elia complicit in Rhaegar’s crimes, why isn’t Elia and their children in Dorne? Why aren’t they hidden away in Essos? Why was Aerys able to get his hands on them and hold them hostage?
Elia is Dornish; therefore she is polyamorous. That is a ruinous, racist piece of tripe. Oberyn Martell has an open relationship with a long term paramour so his brother in law can abduct and have an affair with another woman? Rhaegar isn’t Dornish; he doesn’t get to use his wife’s culture against her. Doran Martell never took another lover after Mellario left. Quentyn Martell was a virgin.
Plug Cersei Lannister or Catlyn Stark into Elia Martell’s situation and Rhaegar’s actions are suddenly beyond the pale? How interesting only white women are worthy of respect and honor.
It is ‘irksome’ because it degrades and dehumanizes and drags Elia down to a footstool for Lyanna Stark. And that is all people like you care about.
Thousands of people died for this little love affair. Elia and her children died. Thousands of her countrymen died. It is irksome that these are acceptable casualties as long as your self insert gets her hot little hands on that crown.
And polygamy has been illegal since before the reforms of Jaehaerys. It is illegal under the Faith of the Seven. It is illegal under the Old Gods. The last Targaryen king who tried enforced polygamy had dragons and he failed. Rhaegar has none.
Interesting how Rhaegar keeps pulling up parrellels to the worst historical dragon kings.

“Friends outside of Minnesota please read. I’m sharing a post written by a personal friend and medical doctor:
Friends outside MN, you need to know what is happening here. Everyone knows that ICE shot and killed a woman here on Wednesday. But that’s not the only thing that’s going on:
- ICE agents are cruising areas with immigrant-owned businesses, and kidnapping patrons and employees alike. Yesterday they abducted two US citizen employees at a suburban Target, one who was begging them to allow him to go get his passport to show them.
- ICE is going door to door in immigrant-heavy neighborhoods, asking residents where their immigrant neighbors live. Read that again. If it sounds like something out of your high school history textbook, that’s because it is.
- ICE is targeting schools and school buses. They pepper sprayed teenagers and abducted two school staff members at the high school up the street from me on Wednesday. Police are literally escorting school buses to ensure children can get to school and home safely. The Minneapolis Public Schools have moved to virtual learning for the next 4 weeks because it’s unsafe for children or teachers to physically come to school.
- They are targeting hospitals and clinics. Patients are scared and are cancelling their appointments or just not showing up. Kids are missing their checkups and vaccines, folks aren’t getting their cancer care, etc.
- They are smashing windows in cars and homes.
- ICE is increasingly picking up Native Americans—again, targeting folks based on skin color alone.
- They are arresting and beating legal observers. A friend of a friend had her arm broken yesterday. Folks are showing up at local hospitals, brought in in ICE custody, with severe injuries that are absolutely inconsistent with mechanism of injury reported by ICE. (Think: patient appears to have been beaten unconscious, while ICE agent says he slipped and fell.)
I can’t emphasize enough that these ICE agents do not have warrants. There are 2,000+ agents here and they are simply hunting for anyone that’s not white. It doesn’t matter if you’re a citizen or a green card holder, they will kidnap you first and ask questions later.
But the community is fighting back.- Protests are happening every day.
- Community groups have been leading know-your-rights sessions for months, often to packed venues.
- Whistles are being distributed by the thousands, carried on keychains and worn on coat zippers, always at the ready to be blown in warning if ICE is spotted.
- Drivers are following ICE vehicles, blaring their horns in warning.
- Businesses are locking their doors even while open to keep employees and customers safe. As I type this, I’m standing guard at the locked door of our neighborhood burrito joint while I wait for my takeout order, so the employees can focus on their jobs. The place is packed with neighbors supporting this small business.
- Anti-ICE signs are posted everywhere. The community is making it crystal clear that ICE is not welcome here.
- Parents and neighbors are standing guard outside schools, organizing carpools, and escorting kids to and from school on foot.
- Parents of kids in Spanish-immersion daycare (there are a LOT of these daycares here!) are keeping their kids home so the teachers don’t have to take the risk of coming to work.
- Churches and community groups are holding fundraisers to buy and deliver groceries to families who don’t feel safe leaving home.
- Mutual aid money is going out to folks who can’t make rent because they can’t work or because a breadwinner was abducted, or who need a warm place to stay after their home’s windows were smashed.
THAT is what is happening here. This fight is ongoing and it’s horrifying to watch. But we are not backing down. To my friends in other cities and states, don’t think for a minute that this won’t happen in your town. It will. Be ready. Learn from us, as we have learned from Portland and Chicago and New York. Fight back. Don’t let us get to the last line of Martin Niemoller’s poem.”

HUNTR/X AU where before becoming a global girl group Rumi grew up working behind the scenes in Sunlight Entertainment to avoid the spotlight, Mira was already a known rebellious artist who occasionally graced magazine covers, and Zoey released EPs and jokingly begged her fans to listen to them so she can pay her rent.
ive already been drawing enough of EJAE, REI and AUDREY as huntr/x, so this time it’s the other way around.
didnt think ppl will like this so much so here’s a doodle of how they finally meet featuring Celine as Maggie Kang. i know audrey knew ejae before huntr/x but in this au lets just say mira knew the name ‘Rumi’ as a producer but hadn’t seen her.
and then they meet Rumi and realize they were intimidated for nothing because they both have more media training than her. the rest is history.

Oh Rhaegar wasn't responsible for the of Elia and their children??? Bitch I an sorry I missed the other prince that broke a betrothal and took away the only daughter of a paramount lord leaving the political fallout to be handled by a madman while leaving his wife and children vulnerable and unaware.
How exactly did Elia and their children become hostage to Aerys and be in the Red Keep when Tywin invaded???
Such a curious standard of accountability, it stops right at Aerys, doesn’t it? Easy to blame the madman and pile every sin on him. I’m almost getting conspiratorial here, what if Rhaegar did all that to push Aerys into madness to overthrow him? Wishful thinking, but the skill wasn’t enough to pull it off.
It is like excusing the fates of poor Rhaelle and Rhaella becomes oh Duncan wasn’t responsible really…
He just openly broke his Baratheon betrothal to marry a peasant, sparking a rebellion where Rhaelle went over as a child hostage and later married in his place, inspired his other siblings to break their betrothals, put Jaehaerys next in line, brought the damn woodwitch to court where her prophecy push Jaehaerys to force Rhaella to marry her brother, did NOTHING to intervene, and ended up sparking his father’s attempts to bring dragons back at Summerhall.
But poor Duncan just wanted his Jenny of Oldstones.
Who he got, fuck the bodily cost and death toll it caused, I guess.
Duncan was a selfish idiot but he was still better than Rhaegar by every mile
(a) he was still unmarried (Rhaegar was not)
(b) he didn’t have any children that he abandoned (Rhaegar did)
© he was willing to abdicate Throne (Rhaegar made no such compromise or sacrifice)
(d) he didn’t have any children with Jenny as to not complicate succession (while Rhaegar evidently fathered Jon)
(e) he was a teenager (Rhaegar had a fully developed brain)
He unintentionally left Rhaelle in a vulnerable position, Rhaella’s situation was to blame on her own creepy father (& also Egg who had the power to stop the Aerys x Rhaella marriage from happening but didn’t), but it’s not comparable to Rhaegar leaving his Dornish wife & children at the mercy of his racist & insane father.
Rhaegar was conceived because of a prophecy, born in the ashes of a failed one, and was utterly consumed with an obsession of prophecy.
The burning of his entire family at Summerhall, his father’s madness, his mother’s pain, and the parade of dead sibling after dead sibling had to be worth something more than pointless suffering.
The point was to save the world right?
That is why I coined the phrase that Rhaegar was Summerhall written small.
All his good intentions paved the road to his personal hell where all he loved and valued were lost at his own actions.
Duncan was just selfish.
He was the heir to the Iron Throne and his breaking of his Baratheon betrothal was a huge insult, huge breach of honor, and the first break in the reforms his father was trying to make.
Yeah, Duncan abdicated the throne, but he got to still live his princely life with his new wife and never pay a coin of the consequences.
People died in the brief rebellion of the new Storm King, Ser Duncan the Tall put a stop to that by winning a one on one combat, but people still died.
Rhaelle Targaryen was a child given over as a glorified hostage to people that had every right to hate and dislike her family and then had to marry into the Baratheons as wereguild.
Duncan did nothing to protest what fate his baby sister and then little niece had to face.
He never protested or stood up for them or challenged his father not to harm little girls to pay the price for his desires.
When Barristan Selmy says that Jenny’s bride price was paid in corpses, he meant it literally.
I am the first to drag Rhaegar for his utter failure to protest his father’s crimes or protect his family, but misguided motivations to save the world are a little more compelling than I will let everyone else pay for my broken promises if I get the girl.
(And I will drag Jaehaerys and Shaera for being horrible, selfish parents and Betha and Aegon for fucking around and failing to bring their children to heel but throw their only grandchild to the wolves).

Can’t believe in this Year of our Lord 2026, people are still twisting themselves in knots to excuse how Rhaegar failed to protect his family and lead to their deaths.
Apparently, only Tywin is responsible for the murders of Elia and her children and there was no possible way that Rhaegar could predict he left them in danger.
While abandoning them twice to the tender mercies of Aerys.
So if Aerys managed to blow up the city with Elia and her children still being held hostage THAT would make their deaths Rhaegar’s fault..
Just not how they were murdered by the Lannisters when the city was sacked and the Red Keep overrunned.
Because kicking off a war by kidnapping a betrothed highborn maiden, leaving the political nightmare to the mad king, and leaving his family ignorant and unguarded had NOTHING to due with how they died.
Right.
