The Aspects of Satan/Lucifer

Iโ€™ve talked about this before, but Iโ€™ve never made a full post about it. And since itโ€™s important, itโ€™s a bit overdue.

The one we know as the Devil has two main aspects that represent His very being and presence in our Universe. These two aspects divide His forms and make it easier to understand His dual-nature as both Adversary and Liberator.

These aspects are of Satan and of Lucifer.

Satan

Satan is representative of human life through the lense of animalistic existence. He is feared and hated by those who donโ€™t understand Him. Yet, He is the embodiment of mankindโ€™s most human qualities, and thusly, should be celebrated.

Anton LaVey wasnโ€™t wrong in his 9 Satanic Statements. Satan does represent vital existence, vengeance over forgiveness, and indulgence. Lord Satan freely partakes in, what by many, is considered sin, proving to the world that the human nature to sin isnโ€™t evil at all, but completely natural and blameless.

  1. Satan encourages the willingness to dabble in the strange and exciting for the sake of oneโ€™s gratification. For without the sweet taste of indulgence and forces of life, what true life are we living? Weโ€™re not. Without indulging in life, weโ€™re dead.
  2. The Satanic Aspect also embodies war, more specifically offensive attacks. For how is one to ever challenge the status quo by simply accepting authority? Taking authority into question is an action most loved by Satan. He admires those who donโ€™t accept defeat, and continuously fight for what they desire.
  3. Darkness is often associated with Satan, and not without mistake. For He is the Lord of Shadows. He is the Master of Mysteries. Satan doesnโ€™t require the light for His followers to write in His book. For He already knows what it reads. He knows all, yet of Him little is known by the masses.
  4. Satan represents the application of both magick and force to change a situation in oneโ€™s life. He acts on whim and with great power to get things done. He is the down and dirty type of magick. The methods of the Left Hand Path. And Heโ€™s certainly not afraid of cursing.
  5. Satan is synonymous with emotions and feelings. He isnโ€™t fearful of one knowing their feelings or stance on a subject and certainly would never suggest the repression of oneโ€™s emotions. Part of the Dark Lordโ€™s teachings is to โ€œknow thyselfโ€ and with knowing oneโ€™s self, comes knowing and coming to terms with how one feels.
  6. Satan is most definitely characterized through sexual and vital presences. He is extremely masculine and exudes an aura of dominance. The Devil teaches that one should never suppress oneโ€™s sexual desires, no matter how society weighs in. For sex is the basis of all life and vitality, and without enjoyment of oneโ€™s own body, how can one enjoy their spiritual side?

Satan shouldnโ€™t be feared or rejected, as in a sense, one would be rejecting a part of themselves. There is a rebel within each of us. A part that revels in taboos and things society isnโ€™t exactly comfortable with.

Hail Satan!

Lucifer

The aspect of Lucifer represents spiritual freedom and knowledge. He is the Light Bearer. The Bringer of Knowledge. He is the Great Teacher of all magickal and spiritual ideas. And for His knowingness and beautiful presence, He is deserving of the greatest respects.

The Morning Star, our glorious Lucifer, liberated humanity from the the Tyrant, giving all people the ability of choice and free will without punishment. He taught great secrets to Lilith and tempted Eve to partake in the Knowledge of Life. Without the Lord of Light, we would never know the great magickal secrets of the earth, and therefore be separated from our true potential.

  1. Lucifer is representative of wisdom. He teaches that one should know of the world around oneโ€™s self, and do their best to always seek knowledge, both spiritual and otherwise. Without knowledge of the world, how does one perform successful magickal workings or great acts of science to affect change?
  2. Lucifer embodies logical ability and intellect. He declares that one is able to make their own decisions through logic and reason in order to survive. He doesnโ€™t encourage superstition without proper thought. For without the application of logic and reason, one is just following blindly what theyโ€™re told to do, and that never ends well.
  3. The Aspect of Lucifer is associated with Light. Light of Knowledge, Light of Day, For He is the Guiding Star. He is the intuitive spirit in each of us, as well as the Omiscient force that drives humanity toward discovery.
  4. Lucifer teaches careful consideration before one commits any damning action. For if one decides to cast a curse, or get revenge, they should consider how to do it and plan accordingly. Is it worth the trouble? Logic and reason accompany this lesson, as well as many of The Morning Starโ€™s teachings.
  5. Lucifer is an embodiment of philosophical awakening. One should question the way things are, in pursuit of correcting error along the way. If one should see another suffering, one should do oneโ€™s best to rectify it. For if it wasnโ€™t for the great charity of our Lord Lucifer, humanity would be bumbling idiots.
  6. Lucifer is the encompassment of the spiritual world. In order for one to know physical life, one must know the spiritual plane for the sake of balance. Without this, the scales are tipped, and consequence follows.

Lucifer, the glorious God of Light, should be most appreciated for His great teachings. Our Liberator defended our nature, and so in His Honor, one should strive to learn the ways of magick and science.

Ave Luciferi!

In conclusion,

One should understand the importance and need for both Aspects of the glorious Satan Lucifer. Without the dark how will we have the light? Without carnality, how does one appreciate the complex philosophies of life?

While Satan is the darkness and Lucifer is the light, this doesnโ€™t mean one should favor one over the other. We all have these Aspects within us. The lustful and the charitable. The warrior and the thoughtful. If we didnโ€™t, we wouldnโ€™t be complete. And so, by honoring these parts of ourselves, we are closer to divinity and infernality. We are accepting our nature.

Satan Lucifer seeks to help those who understand themselves AND the world around them. For how is He supposed to help someone who wonโ€™t help themselves by just looking around. To be analytical and know yourself, and the world, and your place within, is to have a wealth of knowledge, and therefore, power beyond belief.

Ave Satanas!

Ave Luciferi!

This is EXACTLY why I recommend practical herbology studies alongside magical learning.

Exactly! seriously guys.. evenย โ€˜harmlessโ€™ things like licorice root have side effects (raising blood pressure) .. of course most of these herbs are fantastic and very effective /when used properly/ and in the right situations also remember that you wouldnโ€™t treat the same issue in different people with the same herbs.. so.. justโ€ฆ donโ€™t take herbs medicinally (or even at all) unless talking to an herbalist, studying practical herbalism yourself (not just internet searches) or unless you have extensive personal experience with said herb.

When in doubt, and you want to use these herbs magickally, just use them as spell ingredients! And donโ€™t ingest them or apply them (in any real concentration) topically.ย

This is really brief and is missing a lot but it is a good start. Research your herbs and how to properly use and handle them!

Faerie Welcoming Jar

Hello all! This is my first time posting something original of mine, and Iโ€™m a bit nervous. This jar is used as a beacon to welcome fae to your land, and contains examples of offerings.

MATERIALS:

  • A jar of any size
  • Lavender buds (dried)
  • Rosemary (dried)
  • Crystals/any shiny rocks
  • Sugar (preferably raw/natural)
  • A sweet-scented candle
  • Clove Bud Oil
  • Rosemary Oil
  • Lavender Oil
  • Pine Oil

Please note that for your materials, you can use whatever you associate with faeries! You can add more layers than what I did and do it in whatever order you please, taking away/adding whatever feels right. This jar is very flexible.

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Pour a layer of sugar into the bottom of your jar.ย
  2. Put a layer of rosemary on top of that, then add a small amount of your pine and rosemary oil.
  3. Add another layer of sugar.
  4. Put a layer of lavender buds, and add the lavender and clove bud oil.
  5. Add one more layer of sugar.
  6. Put your crystals and/or stones on top, filling the jar the rest of the way.
  7. Using hot wax from the sweet-scented candle, pour it over the outside of the jar.
  8. Say these words: โ€œThis is but a small representation of what I have to offer. I welcome you to this land, and you I will honor.โ€
  9. Place at a windowsill/anywhere that is noticeable and welcoming.

Bird Symbolism

So I was looking out my window and saw two birds and the idea of making a list of symbolism associated with types of birds came to mind. My mom always taught me if you see an animal -especially if they are doing something out of the ordinary- you should take it as an omen. So hereโ€™s a list of some basic birds, some of the associations are personal but I hope you like it!

Blue Jay-the truth will be revealed, high energy, playfulness, clarity and communication.

Cardinal-hope, joy, good health, some associate them with angels or deceased love ones, passion and warmth.

Crow-often associated with magic and witches, transformation, power, intelligence and mystery.ย

Duck-friendships, new friends, happiness, good fortune and protect against negative energiesย โ€œwater off a ducks backโ€ :)

Eagle-power, leadership, freedom, adventure, breaking free.

Hawk-ย common as spirit guides, courage, protection, and awareness.ย

Hummingbird- I adore hummingbirds and often associate them with faeries. Creativity, joy, love and beauty. Can be a sign that you are moving too fast in life and need to take a break.

Owl-ย wisdom, associated with the goddess Athena, intuition, spiritual exploration, change, observation and intelligence.

Raven- associated with the nordic god Odin, mystery, magic, fae magic, knowledge, mischieve, and can be seen as a death omen (but can also mean change)ย

Robin- luck, prosperity, good things will happen, joy and your hard work will soon be rewarded.ย

Sparrow- associated with Aphrodite, new love and relationships, fertility, team work, time of productivity and stop procrastinating.

Stork-long life, prosperity, fertility, new life, wisdom, take time to relax, motherhood and luck.

Swan-ย also associated with Aphrodite and Apollo, gracefulness, beauty, music, poetry, creativity, loyalty, and long lasting relationships.

Vulture-death, cleaning up other peopleโ€™s messes, renewal, patient, use your resources and be perceptive.

Woodpecker- hard work, take advantage of new oppurtunities, attention, progress and determination.

Tip! If you are repeatedly seeing a certain animal or have a strong liking to an animal it could be a way a spirit guide is trying to get your attention (or that animal is just really common in your area lol )

*or that animal is just really common in your area (a caveat thatโ€™s best to not forget).ย

Crystalย Terminology

Below is a list of helpful terms to know when working with gems and minerals. It includes terminology on various crystal shapes and forms. Terms specific to mineral shapes have โ€œ(form)โ€ย next to them for ease of reference.

Abundance (form): An abundance crystal consists of one long quartz crystal with many small crystals clustered around its base. Its function is to attract wealth and abundance.ย ย

Adamantine Luster: Aย particularly brilliant shine asย shown by a specimen such as a diamond.

Amorphous (form): Amorphous crystals, such as obsidian, have no particular shape. Energy flows rapidly through and amorphous crystal as it has no rigid internal organization.

Aura: The subtle bio-magnetic sheath that surrounds the physical body, providing a protective zone that extends for about 18 inches to 3 feet from the body and contains information about a personโ€™s physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual state of being.ย

Aura Crystal: A crystal specimen, usually of the quartz variety, that has been coated with metal (i.e. gold, titanium) in a vacuum chamber resulting in an iridescent sheen.

Ball (form): Balls are usually shaped from a larger piece of crystal and may have planes or flaws within them. They emit energy in all directions equally.ย

Barnacle (form): A barnacle crystal has many small crystals covering a larger crystal.ย

Bridge (form): A bridge crystal grows out of another larger crystal. It assists in bridging gaps and bringing things together.

Carat: The standard measure of weight for precious stones and metals. A carat is equal to 0.007 oz (0.2g).

Cathedral Quartz (form): Cathedral quartz may appear to be composed of several convoluted pieces, but these are in fact all part of the main crystal which has multiple terminations with at least one point at the apex.

Channeler (form): A channeling crystal has a 7 sided facet at the front of the termination and a triangular face on the opposite side. It channels healing energy or information from higher sources.ย

Cleavage: The way a mineral or rock breaks along a certain plane, or in a certain direction.

Cluster (form): A cluster has many points bedded, but not necessarily fixed, into a base. The crystals may be small or large.ย

Companion (form): A companion crystal has two crystals entwined and partly growing in each other, or a small crystal that grows out of the main crystal.ย

Cross (form): A cross formation has one crystal at right angles to another, usually larger crystal.ย

Crystal: A naturally occurring substance whose atoms are arranged in a regular manner.ย

Crystal System: The systems in which crystals are grouped based on their symmetry. There are 6 crystal systems: cubic, monoclinic, triclinic, trigonal/hexagonal, orthorhombic, and tetragonal.ย

Diamond Window (form): Flat faces at the top of crystals are called windows. Aย diamond window is large and connected to the apex and the base.

Double Terminated (form): A crystal with two naturally faceted ends.ย

Dull Luster: A shine that reflects very little.

Earthy Luster: A non-reflective mineral luster.

Egg (form): A crystal cut in the shape of an egg.ย

Elestial (form): An elestial has many natural terminations and folds over a multilayered crystal.ย

Etched (form): An etched crystal that looks as though hieroglyphs or cuneiform writing has been inscribed on its faces.ย

Faces: The External flat surface that make up a crystalโ€™s shape.

Fault Line: An inner flaw or break in a crystal that refracts light and appears to divide the crystal into sections.ย

Fluorescence: The optical effect whereby a mineral appears a different color in ultraviolet light than in ordinary daylight.ย

Fracture: The distinctive way a mineral breaks.

Friable: Minerals that easily crumble are referred to as friable.

Gemstone: A mineral, usually crystal-like, which is valued for its color, rarity, and hardness.

Generator (form): A generator crystal has six facets meeting equally in a sharp point.ย

Geode (form): A geode is contained within an outer form. When opened, it is hollow with many crystals pointing inward.ย

Geologist: A scientist who studies the Earth and its structure and composition.

Gridding: The placing of crystals around a building, person, or room for protection or enhancement energies.

Habit: The general shape of a mineral.

Inclusion:ย Any material that is trapped inside a mineral during its formation, often producing a rainbow.

Iridescence: A play of colors that looks like oil on water that occurs when light reflects off internal elements of a rock or mineral.ย

Layered (form): Plate-like crystals such as lepidolite are referred to as layered.ย

Luster: The way in which light reflects of the surface of a mineral.

Manifestation (form): One or more small crystals are totally enclosed by a larger crystal.ย

Matrix: The bedrock on which crystals are formed.

Metallic Luster: A shine like that of polished metal.

Mineral: A naturally occurring solid with specific characteristics, such as a particular chemical composition and crystal shape.

Mineralogist: A scientist who studies minerals.

Mohs Scale: A scale of hardness used in classifying minerals.ย It runs from 1 to 10 using a series of reference minerals, and a position on the scale depends on the ability to scratch minerals rated lower.

Occlusion: A mineral deposit within a crystal, which usually shows up as cloudy patches, spots, or a ghostlike image depending on the color of the material.

Opaque: A substance or material that does not let light pass through it.

Ore: A rock or mineral from which metal can be extracted

Pleochroic: In a crystal, appearing to have two or more different colors or shades of color, depending on the angle from which it is viewed.ย

Point (form): Points may be natural or artificially shaped. A single crystal point has a faceted pointed end and the other end tends to look ragged where it has been separated from a cluster base.ย

Prism: A solid geometric figure with a set of faces parallel to one another.

Pyramid (form): A crystal with four sides on a base, but the base itself may be squared off if the crystal is natural (i.e. apophyllite) rather than artificially shaped.

Record Keeper (form): A record keeper crystal has clearly etched pyramid shapes on its side or sides.ย

Resinous Luster: A shine like that of resin.

Scepter Quartz (form): A scepter quartz is a large central rod around one end of which another crystal is formed.ย

It will make you sick or even kill you)

A word of caution to mentally ill witches

For a lot of us, witchcraft is very useful when it comes to helping us cope with mental illness. However, it cannot be ignored that in many cases it can make things much worse.

Iโ€™m not talking about having the wrong crystals in your room or invoking harmful spirits, Iโ€™m talking about actual psychological ways that practicing witchcraft can lead to unhealthy thoughts.ย

Itโ€™s not hard to imagine how someone with obsessive compulsions or paranoia might get negatively influenced by the idea that you must trust your intuition or that they might have the ability to sense evil, and people who experience auditory or visual hallucinations might avoid seeking necessary help because they could believe that the hallucinations are a message from some higher entity.ย

Of course Iโ€™m not saying witchcraft is bad or not real, but what if you experience delusions? What if it makes you scared of leaving the house? What if you are convinced that you are cursed, or that you have to obsessively perform rituals or cleanse your house to stay safe?

I myself have to take steps to make witchcraft and spirituality have a little less influence on my life because it is having a negative impact on my mental health in this way. An important thing to remind yourself of is that your life doesnโ€™t have to include magic all the time.ย

You can decide that, maybe for a day, there is no magic. You donโ€™t have to acknowledge the spiritual properties of any object or anything. A stone can be just a stone, a tree just a tree. Itโ€™s okay to detach from that world as long as you like, nothing bad will happen as a direct result from doing so. I swear โ™ก

This is super important! As someone who suffers from delusions, witchcraft used to exacerbate them before I started seeking treatment. It wasnโ€™t until I learned how to do reality checks that I could differentiate delusions from my craft. Maintaining that balance between magical and mundane, mystical and skeptical is vital in witchcraft has helped calm a lot of my fears and kept me mentally sound.

So please, if witchcraft is hurting you, try talking to an understanding professional if you can and take breaks from your craft from time to time

โœจ glow like the sun: spell jar ๐ŸŒž

a little spell jar to glow like the sun - being confident, positive, and to attract love โœจ

๐ŸŒž what you need:

  • rose quartz and/or agate {rose quartz to attract love, agate for confidence}
  • a jar (big enough for your crystal!)
  • dried rose petals {for love}
  • dried lavender {to stay cool + calm}
  • a pen
  • a lighter + candle (i used white)
  • a sigil for attractiveness, love, positivity, confidence, or whatever you would like to use

๐ŸŒž what to do:

  • gather all your materials, and do any rituals you may do before your spells (casting a circle, cleansing, etc)
  • optional: call on a deity whom you honour (i called upon apollo)
  • on one of the rose petals, draw your sigil
  • place the dried rose petals, lavender, and crystal/s in the jar, focusing your intent on the person you wish to be.
  • as you put the lid on the jar, say (or think) the words:

i stand tall as the trees,

strong as the mountains,

and shine bright as the sun.

  • seal the jar with wax, and place it by a window. here, it can charge in the energy of the sun, and continue the spell over time.

this is an original spell from my grimoire. if you have any questions about the spell, feel free to ask!

** i am very aware of the ethics of love spells; this is not forcing anyone into a relationship; it is for confidence and feel comfortable in yourself.

Resources that helped me improve my Korean

  • talktomeinkorean.com
  • topikguide.com
  • memrise.com
  • Seoul Universityโ€™s Korean and Korean Culture class
  • TOPIK 150 essential grammar intermediate book
  • TOPIK i, ii reading/writing/listening books
  • avoid solely relying on โ€œlearn koreanโ€ tumblr blogs, oftentimes the information is incorrect

+ways to tackle the language

Get a firm understanding of most grammar. Correct Korean grammar is crucial to understanding and speaking the language because each grammar has a different nuance and effect. Choosing the right grammar is the most useful way to communicate your ideas in Korean.

Memorize vocabulary. Make sure you are learning a real word that Koreans actually use. Try typing it into naver.com to see what comes up to make sure its the meaning youโ€™re trying to convey. memrise.com is helpful with memorizing and learning new vocab, but some words are not always used in daily life. Just check if youโ€™re unsure, or ask a Korean friend.

Practice speaking. If you watch dramas, try repeating what they say slowly at first. Then move up until you can repeat them at the same speed. Even if youโ€™re not sure exactly what theyโ€™re saying, youโ€™ll get a feel for how Koreans actually speak. This obviously works better if you are sure what theyโ€™re saying, so start with small phrases youโ€™re familiar with. This helped me immensely in improving my accent and speaking.

Tip: As a girl, and what Iโ€™ve heard from other girls who speak English and Korean, is that your voice may tend to get lighter/higher tone when you speak Korean as opposed to when you speak English. Keeping this in mind may help you get more comfortable with pronunciation etc.

Reading. This helps endlessly with syntax. Very important if you want to sound fluent vs. if you want to sound rehearsed in Korean. There are things taught in Korean language schools that Koreans themselves donโ€™t use in colloquial or formal speaking. So, read news articles, blog posts, webtoons, etc. to get a feeling of what Korean looks/sounds/feels like when used by Koreans. Reading novels in Korean will give you a whole new learning perspective of the language. Read every day, set goals, and keep working at it. You will see yourself improving.

Never think youโ€™ve learned all there is to learn! If your goal is to just get by in Korea, then a few weeks or months of study will get you there. But if youโ€™re looking to understand the people and the culture, it is essential to have a firm grasp on the language. It is impossible to really know Korea just by watching variety shows and dramas. Korea is a culture shaped and embodied in its language. The language is like a blanket that covers everything to be known about the culture. Once you can pull the blanket away, as in once you deeply understand the language, you will see and understand Korea as more than just the shape of it you saw when it was under the blanket.
