Hi, I'm Denise! This blog is for my artworks and for updates about my websites, especially my shared review-blog-thing Staircase Spirit and my Pokémon fansite Copy Cat. Reblogs are over on No Egrets. You can also find me on Rigelatin and on Pillowfort.

I tried out the Favorite Digimon Picker to see what some of my favorite Baby Digimon might be, and I wound up with Puttimon, Pitchmon, and Torikara Ballmon. A cutie baby angel, a teeny tiny plankton, and an aromatic chicken nugget.

We have lots of thoughts about the relics in Slay the Spire!

❖ Read the article…

Having played Slay the Spire an extremely normal amount — significantly more than one thousand hours of playtime *cough* — we have developed some personal opinions about different aspects of the gameplay, based on our particular favored play-styles and experiences with the game. But you can take everything we say as objectively correct mandates about the proper way to play the game, because of course we’re right. :P

Naw, but seriously, we made this article intentionally not a ranking of the relics, because each and every one of them has the potential to be awesome in a particular situation, especially in combination with other things. That’s one aspect we really love about Slay the Spire - the game design is really out-of-this-world. There is not one overpowered relic that alone means you win the game, there is not a prize relic that would never ever be useful, there’s not one particular combination that always works and forget anything else. There are tons of unusual synergies to discover! And we know that if we could just manage to defeat another elite, just climb up to the next treasure chest, bring enough gold to the next shop, it could completely change our game. And the fact that we must sometimes leave relics behind, that we must choose one to forgo, adds so much tension to it all.

I think the amazing game design of the relics is a big part of why we keep coming back to try yet another run up the Spire.

For our continuing mission to write everything we want to say about Oblivion (which is impossible btw), we wrote about the first half of the Dark Brotherhood questline, as seen by good old Thorbethonir.

Dark humor abounds... but also lots of serious discussion about the Themes. This is our favorite part of that questline.

To anyone interested in making shrines (shrines as in fan websites) in this day and age, I present: the Ghost of You Shrine Challenge. The goal of the event is to create shrines to the challenge prompt “Ghost of You”, however you might interpret it. The event runs from 1 October 2025 to 31 January 2026 for a total of four months.

More information and sign-up form on the event website.

You've got a website, but have never made a shrine before? Fear not, there's a discussion site over at Dreamwidth where you can chat with other webmasters in this sphere throughout the event!

[Denise] I've signed up with making The Unforgotten, a shrine to Blue/Green and/or Leaf and Crystal/Kris from Pokémon. They have haunted the Pokémon franchise (and me!) like ghosts through the years. The shrine will discuss these characters' delayed creation, and their subsequent forced-disappearance to retcon-limbo, and now their ongoing canon resurgence.

I've been meaning to turn some of the writing we've done on these characters on Staircase Spirit into a standalone, better-organized, and full-fledged fansite, and I am using this event as the kick in the pants to get it going!

And there's still time to join if you've got a shrine idea haunting you as well!

Omg! You’re the person who made Copy Cat?! 🤩I visited your site religiously in my early teens and I still visit it from time to time even now! It’s thanks to your site I learned of the Dub changes and cuts for Mewtwo Strikes Back as well as the Birth of Mewtwo Drama CD which made me fall more in love with Mewtwo’s character. Thank you so much for all of your hard work and keeping the site alive!!🥰💜💜

Yay!!! I am very glad to hear you’ve enjoyed Copy Cat over the years! :D

I somehow haven’t made an art compilation post about Mew yet. Mew is one of my favorite things to draw.

A compilation of drawings I have made of Tangela, Tangrowth, and the beta baby Tangela.

(if Game Freak doesn’t want the baby Tangela, can I have it?)

Game Review: The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard

We played Redguard and it was both amazing and atrocious. We loved it, but we cannot recommend it to another soul. Why? Here is a full review of our experience with this game!

We split this review into two parts - the first is a spoiler-free mini-review about what is even this game, why we like it, and why we dislike it; the second is a spoiler-full mega-review of everything that happens in this game, from beginning to end.
