“What a ridiculous word. What a ridiculous, wonderful word.”
Okay, okay. I am not immune to the gay hockey show.
But I wanted to highlight this gif set because most that I have seen (understandably) stop after the Shane and Ilya interaction, and I am like, but wait! There’s more!
As someone who is realistically closer in age to Shane’s parents than to Shane, that exchange between his parents is golden. They’re repeating back information they heard, and they heard the “oh god I don’t want to define fuck buddy/just a physical relationship to my parents” version.
But what they are saying to each other here, Shane’s mom and dad is, basically, yeah, you two were fooling yourselves if you think it was just physical. We know the deal. You might not have known the deal but we do.
And you can argue with me about this, but I think his parents are right. I think in Shane and Ilya’s minds they thought or wanted to think it was merely physical (not that there is anything wrong with that, by the way!) but they each brought too much baggage and also showed too much too early. Shane almost by being there at all. Ilya, too.
Shane and Ilya are still catching up with their hearts and their words but Shane’s parents, who have more life experience, are watching this and thinking, and more importantly, SAYING, yeah, this is a decade long relationship. You don’t get here without going through all of what they have. His parents see it. They’re joking about it, but they see it.
That Shane and Ilya are still trying to dismiss that early part of their relationship is telling. That Shane’s parents don’t miss it is also telling. They had a million and one feelings. They just don’t say it. They didn’t say it.
But it’s obvious if you have lived long enough.
(Also Shane’s dad beginning with the phone charger speech killed me dead. 💀 It’s such a dad thing.)
do y'all remember when they found all that tf art in Osamu Tezuka’s drawer post-mortem because I think about it often
anyway keep chasing your bliss and draw weird shit, god knows we need that right now
I feel like I’m the last person alive writing in Word, but wanted to share this because it might save someone some heartache.
I am used to Word autosaving relentlessly; for the last few years it didn’t really even have a “File>Save” command that I could see–it just autosaved like every five seconds or something. It took me a long time to get used not clicking File>Save at the end of every writing session, and I never really trusted it–with good reason, it turns out.
Apparently, when you turn off Word’s new ai features, AutoSave is disabled and cannot be turned back on. There is toggle button in the upper left for it, but when I try to toggle it on, it says “Autosave is not available because of your privacy settings.” I worked in my document yesterday, put my computer to sleep with the doc still open on the taskbar (my usual habit), and when I opened it today, the new work I did yesterday was gone.
This time I only lost about 300 words, which I had typed into my document from my longhand-writing in a notebook (so I guess I kind of autosaved them that way!), but if I’d really been on a roll, this could have been a disaster.
Be careful out there. Everything is terrible!
Yeah, they’re baking it into essential compontents now so we’ll stop turning it off. Noticed that in several programs. FFS I hate all of these tech bros.
Everything important has been said so my question is “Why did they make this picture like that?” The entire point of this type of image (showing the choice as two roads) is that the person making a choice is one and you can only choose one road. There are two sleighs here, they can just go two ways at the same time. Why is it like that. That’s obviously not the worst thing here but it’s killing me

i would kill for the confidence of novelists who write genius-poet characters and then actually write samples of the “genius” poetry in the book. if i were a novelist writing a genius-poet i’d just be like “trust me, the poetry’s real good.”
teenage girls in fiction: hes so cute i wanna slow dance with him at prom :3 hehe
real teenage girls: imagine if he got injured and i had to tend to his wounds and i could watch him seize up a bit as i disinfect them and in the haze of fever he sees me as an angel
DOJ issues subpoenas for Walz, Minneapolis mayor in criminal investigation
“Two days ago it was Elissa Slotkin,” Walz said in a statement obtained by The Hill’s sister network NewsNation. “Last week it was Jerome Powell. Before that, Mark Kelly. Weaponizing the justice system and threatening political opponents is a dangerous, authoritarian tactic. The only person not being investigated for the shooting of Renee Good is the federal agent who shot her.”
The tiny charter school where slain mother Renee Good sent her 6-year-old son has been forced to conduct classes online after receiving a slew of threats following her fatal shooting by an immigration officer.
Everyone who voted for Trump has blood on their hands!
An ominous plot to paste images of ICE protesters across TV and pressure employees to fire anybody opposing the immigration agency’s presence in American cities has been announced by President Donald Trump’s administration.
ETA: I wonder if trump will use a sharpie to change the name on the Nobel award?

Renfrew Christie Dies at 76; Sabotaged Racist Regime’s Nuclear Program
He played a key role in ending apartheid South Africa’s secret weapons program in the 1980s by helping the African National Congress bomb critical facilities.
… After 48 hours of torture, Dr. Christie wrote a forced confession — “the best thing I ever wrote,” he later told the BBC, noting that he had made sure the confession included “all my recommendations to the African National Congress” about the best way to sabotage Koeberg and other facilities.
“And, gloriously, the judge read it out in court,” Dr. Christie added. “So my recommendations went from the judge’s mouth” straight to the A.N.C.
Two years later, in December 1982, Koeberg was bombed by white A.N.C. operatives who had gotten jobs at the facility. They followed Dr. Christie’s instructions to the letter.
