Overall, I really liked this episode but I feel I could've liked it more if I had more faith in the writers. Especially in the mediator argument.

Hen's big argument there was that none of them could know what shes been going through because none of them asked. No one cared enough to figure out if she was actually doing ok after Bobby's death, emotionally or otherwise. But, aside from the forgotten birthday episode we haven't really seen this. Even this episode, to me, felt kinda dropped outta no where, with no build up and a quick reconcile. It didnt seem like a storyline they were actually building or continuing.

It was a whole thing immediate post bobby death that buck was actually being over bearing and checking in with people TOO much. Yes, he was doing it in an unproductive way (a la grief assessment), but it does kinda contradict hens point. We've also seen eddie getting closer w Hen this season since theyre partnered up. They went to an IMAX together! Hen and athena seem to regularly hang out together. Hen also hid all of this from Karen, her literal wife.

Bearing all of that in mind, I think you could still believably pull off hen making this argument in this moment. She's just lost her job and possibly her healthcare with it. Her sense of identity, purpose, and family are obviously very tied into her career. They all have such incredibly blurred lines of work and personal relationships. To top it all off, shes been kinda ambushed into this mediator intervention session. I dont expect her to be making a sound/rational argument rn! I totally support her lashing out emotionally even if her isolation in this is largely self imposed. That's messy and real and human, and I think shes allowed to be that!

But with the way the rest of the table reacted, it seems like the writers are trying to sell that argument as real. They all look suitably chastised for not paying enough attention to hen. No one speak up to argue or defend themself or even slightly contradict her. That's where it all breaks down and feels like the writers arent keeping track of their own story lines now, for me.

I just feel like they either needed to commit more to hen actually being neglected (before this episode, continue and build on the forgotten birthday storyline, throw us little bits of hen getting talking over or prioritizing other people or more fraught interpersonal dynamics cause of the team reorg, etc) or let the other characters react in a way that tells us this is all a big bundle of emotions rather than messy story telling (let the rest of them contradict her, keep the argument unproductive cause theyre still not hearing each other and feelings are still raw, have her collapse happen as people start yelling and she gets up to storm out bc she feels like ppl arent listening to her).

But like. Do one of those and do it fully. Don't just tell us they haven't been paying attention to her without showing it and then give her a dramatic medical emergency so this can all get swept up without actually having to process it.

Either way, I'm tuned in, I want more hen storylines, im interested if they wanna drag out the tension and make the interpersonal stuff a longer lasting thing. I just wish it felt more like the show knew what the actual story is

I need the guy from the 911 call who was convinced by a robot voice to choke himself out to sue the city for all its worth. Have it as just a running background gag. A scene starts w one of the characters watching TV and there's just a news chyron the court case on the bottom of the screen. Someone is reading a newspaper and its on the back of the page. The station had to switch to the sucky 1 ply toilet paper cause of budget cuts after the massive settlement

I know hen has done some dumb shit, especially with this storyline, but girl why did you think you were gonna be back on duty!?!?!?!? You collapsed outside a structure fire! Your job is dangerous! I get wanting to still have a job and be a part of the lafd but like. Other positions exist that arent this dangerous. Go be a fire marshal like buck did when he had his injury arc!

Them having their little dinner table fight about hypothetical firings and them seeming to all just forget the bucking being sidelined for his health storyline from way back when????? Like definitely not the same situation, but feels like maybe necessary context for them to bring up for some of the big feelings ppl are having. Or even as like a situation for them to bring up that parallels this and might help them take a step back from the current situation and see more angles/other sides

I hate when people ask me how long it took me to crochet something I’ve made. Frankly, that’s none of my business. I put the yarn on the hook and worked on it whenever the spirit happened to take me to and then one day it was done. How long that process took is between the yarn and god; I want no part of it.

"I asked ChatGPT--"

Yeah well, I asked the wasps nest in my attic. It sang its answer so beautifully to me, but I am so very afraid of it. Perhaps it will soothe my itching soul...

Black faith leaders have called for a 40-day "fast" from Target for Lent in response to their compliance with Trump's resegregation agenda.

Now this is an effective boycott. It is targeting (ha) a specific company with a clearly stated goal. The amount of time is long enough to be noticed, and could be extended if needed. Anything that can be purchased at Target can also be obtained elsewhere, so it is actually possible to boycott this specific company for a very long time. Target is caving to fascism and rolling back their diversity and inclusion policies. The goal is for them to reverse that decision. This is an achievable goal.

Boycotting everything all at once, for one day or for as long as you can, because everything is terrible and we’re mad about it…does nothing. It’s vague, disorganized, and frankly impossible. We have to buy things sometimes. You can’t just target the economy as a whole. You have to be specific.

If you want to start a boycott, use this one as an example. Choose one target. Provide one (simple, clear, easy to explain) reason why that company deserves to be boycotted. Explain what you want them to do differently. Make sure that it is something that can actually be done. Then tell people about it.

saddest fucking tag i've ever seen in my life. why not just cut off his dick while you're at it
