So there’s this game the immortals play…
Masters of Death Characters by Olivie Blake

"Damian hates Tim. "Damian tried to kill Tim." Blah blah blah, I raise you, Damian trying to be like Tim in a younger sibling way. If he sees Tim drinking a Zesti Cola, Damian will also drink one even if he's not a fan of the brand. Tim is wearing baggy clothes? Damian is scrounging around the attic for old clothes to try and mimic the look. Tim trying to solve a case? Damian will also demand a case of his own to work alongside him. He sees Tim skateboarding? A new skateboard has been delivered to the manor with same day delivery. Everyone thought this was his weird way of competing with Tim until they walked into the Batcave one day.
Jason: Is he... drinking a Zesti? I thought he didn't like them.
Dick: Forget the soda. Why is he dressed like like that? I thought he said Tim had "poor fashion tastes."
Duke: Are you sure he wasn't talking about you? Besides, I was told they couldn't work together peacefully, but here they are.
Cass: I saw him trying to skateboard yesterday.
Duke: Is it just me, or do they kinda look similar?
Dick: Wait, is Damian trying to copy Tim? I thought I'd be the cool older sibling he'd try to copy!!
Jason: Why would he choose you? You're old and lame.
Dick: Excuse me!! Why is everyone picking on me today?
Cass: Shh, look *points at Tim and Damian*
Everyone looks to see Damian organizing case files and paperwork the same way Tim has.
Jason: Oh my god!! He IS trying to be like Tim!!
Duke: This is weird, right? I can't be the only person who thinks this is weird.
Cass: I think it's sweet
Jason: I can't believe he decided Tim was the standard. I'm literally right here.
Duke: *side eyeing Jason* Yeah, maybe it's a good thing he chose Tim. Still, we're closer in age. You'd think it'd be me.
Dick: Do you think Tim knows?
At that moment, Tim looks up at them with a smug grin
Dick, Jason, Cass, and Duke: Yeah, he knows
I think it'd be cute if Damian was the stereotypical younger sibling that wanted to be like his cool older brother. Tim absolutely knows, and although he's smug about it, it does warm his heart that Damian chose him despite their past differences.
Thought of this at 3 a.m. and fell asleep before I could write it 🤍 Hope you enjoyed this and remember, I am not responsible if you think this is what they're like in canon :)
In retrospect, one thing I kinda like in ATLA is how Zuko never tells the gaang how he got his scar.
It would have been cool to see their reactions to Zuko's story and see how their perspective on Zuko changed. And I have no doubt that he tells them about it at some point. But this way, it doesn't come off as emotional blackmail, with him trying to paint his actions as 'Yes, I hunted you across the world, but I actually had a really good reason."
If he did, he might have had a better chance of joining the Gaang, but he doesn't. In traditional Zuko fashion, he takes the most challenging route possible.
Zuko takes full accountability for his actions, even though they came from a place where he felt he had no choice. Because at the end of the day, he realized that even though his father put him on his avatar's path, he was the one who zealously attacked them at every opportunity. He isn't letting himself off the hook for anything.
#zuko is so funny to me because at multiple points throughout the show if he had any manipulative bone in his damn body #he wouldve gotten somewhere #blue spirit? why are you throwing fire. the avatar is talking with you. LIE. #its so fucking funny bc the gaang is like 'zukos EVIL he is PLAYING you' guys zuko doesnt know how to do that. #full honest truth confessing insane shit in front of them. he didnt even gaf about being friends or being FORGIVEN it was abt the goal #'i need the avatar to take me into their group so i may aid in however possible to stop my father' that was the goal. truly was like #'take me as a prisoner if this is the way i can help' HES CRAZY (@ponytailzuko)
Annabeth haters claims Percy always puts Annabeth first but she never does the same. It would be nice if these people took the Annabeth hate googles off when reading the books because not only is that not true, it's many times the exact opoosite.
Annabeth:
okay, yes, Haymitch did choose Katniss in that first arena, whether it was because he thought she had a better chance, or because Peeta oozed martyrdom, or because of personal loyalties to Burdock, or all of the above — but as soon as it becomes possible to save both of them, let’s not forget that Haymitch is doing his damndest to save Peeta too; he is getting the money for drugs and food and expensive medicine; he was prioritizing Katniss initially, but the line “he loves Peeta too” isn’t in there for no reason; Haymitch didn’t have to save them both; he could have communicated “cut your losses; he’s too wounded and too much of a liability” to Katniss, (who, again did not need Peeta or the romance to survive at that point in the Games) but no! he wanted to save them both, and he did
About Sentry, Void and what they're really like
The key moment that a lot of people don’t seem to understand: all sides of Bob (Bob himself, Sentry and Void) have never known love or care, they have never had a single person who was even a little worried about them or genuinely cared for them. They have zero confidence that anyone will ever need them, even more than that, they are sure of the opposite. They are very traumatized, just as much as Bob is, because they’re literally part of him.
I didn't think it was necessary to write about it because it's literally shown in every scene, but I'm shocked at how many people didn't get it at all, so.
With Bob himself, I think it's all clear to everyone, thankfully.
About Void:
He repeats throughout the movie that they (Bob/Sentry/Void) will always be alone, he says this to both Yelena and Bob (even though she hugs Bob at this moment, and yet)
He also says "you think they care about you? you don’t matter to anyone" and "the most shameful thing of all is thinking you could be anything more than nothing".
For him, there is no hope. He doesn't believe anyone will ever stay with them because all their life no one ever did, everyone always left. Void is all about complete loneliness and the way he keeps confidently repeating that they will always be alone, screams that he has given up on the hope that someone will truly love them. He's not a mystical tough guy as a lot of people love to portray. He's a depression, an absolute hopeless loneliness (and it’s obvious, it’s all in his name).
About Sentry:
1) Desire to be praised and loved
The first person who says a kind word to him, tells him that he is worth something, he immediately follows that person and does whatever he is told, even though he is not sure that he wants to. He does it to please, to be useful, finally believing in himself because of her and wanting to prove her right.
2) Kindness to those he'd known for a couple days at most, and not even through his “own eyes”
He listens to Valentina, even when she says she plans to use him so she won't be impeached. He's okay with that. Until she gives him the order to kill the bolts. He doesn't want to do that, even though this is the first time he's interacted with them himself, only having seen them through Bob's eyes. He doesn't want to hurt them, and he tells them that. He offers them to surrender and he offers it sincerely, smiling awkwardly and shrugging his shoulders, nodding a little at the thought that it's a good suggestion:
He doesn't even attack them; it's Alexei who jumps on him first, screaming.
And even when they come at him with knives and bullets, he just pushes John, Yelena and Ava away most of the time (he doesn't know Bucky and Alexei, so it's different with them).
It all screams in everyone’s faces that he's not "I'm going to kill everyone, I'm so badass" but that he won't really hurt anyone who isn't a threat to him (even if they kinda tried to hurt him, but he knows their intentions, so he’s not upset with them). He calmly and kindly asked them to surrender, again because he's trying to please Valentina, but also because he didn’t want to fight them at all. Just because Bob knew them for a day and they helped him.
3) Insecurity
As soon as the guys don't even ridicule him, but just ask him what's wrong with his hair and the way he looks, he can't leave this topic alone, he gets all worked up, saying he doesn't like it, even though Valentina tells him to leave it alone and not to let other people's words affect him.
It shows that his giant ego is only related to his great strength, but he has no self-confidence in anything else.
4) The realization that it wasn't teamwork, that she's yet another person trying to tell him how to live and what to do:
To her "you need to do what i say" he simply asks why.
He thought they were going to act as a team, but it turns out they want to put a leash on him, and he won't let that happen. He's part of Bob, and Bob has lived his whole life under someone else's commands and orders.
Sentry is also honestly tells her that she doesn't know what he's capable of, and he's right, she doesn't.
That’s the only thing he’s so sure of, his strength. Again, because of her.
5) People betraying and hurting Bob (+Sentry/Void) all his life
And that's the horrible thing that breaks my heart.
When she reaches for the button to kill him.
Kill him because she doesn't care, like all the others before her.
And his words when he sees it, when he realizes what she wanted to do, "You were gonna turn on me, just like the rest of them"
AND THAT SAYS EVERYTHING ABOUT SENTRY (AND BOB AND VOID), all of them and their severe trauma
They want at least one person in their life who won't leave or betray them.
Sentry started listening to Valentina when she, again, only said a few kind words to him.
He obediently did what she told him to do, even though he didn't want to, all so that someone would stand by him and tell him he was worth something.
And it ended just like all those times before - no one cared about him as a person and about what he wanted.
All of Bob, all sides of him, want someone to finally for the first time in their lives be there for them, support them and see their worth.
And the further it goes, the worse it gets:
Bob is hopeful, even though there’s so much sadness and pain in him.
Sentry is hopeful too, but there's an aggression in him when faced with attempts to trick him, to manipulate him again.
and Void – no hope at all.
In conclusion:
when Sentry becomes close to the bolts just as Bob is, he will be ready to kill anyone for them and to die himself (which thankfully is almost impossible).
Everyone’s screaming that Bob is a sweetheart, but so is Sentry (and honestly so is Void)
again quoting Florence
Bob – cute and sad
Sentry – trying and traumatized
and I’ll add from myself
Void – depressed and hopeless
and I love all of them, all of Bob, very very much
Why is the fandom dying?
Why do authors stop writing?
Why is there barely any fics being published?
Because some of you are acting like entitled little children, that’s why.
I swear, every single week, we receive abhorrent asks in our inboxes.
“Next fic/chapter when”
“You haven’t posted/updated since x amount of time”
Etc etc etc.
I’ve been writing fics for a decade now, and I have NEVER seen such behaviour before. There’s a new generation of readers out there who simply lacks basic fanfiction etiquette.
Fics authors are doing FREE LABOUR, they’re creating FREE content for you to enjoy. And it’s still not enough. You don’t bang on the oven door and scream at the cake to bake faster. Nor would you sit in a restaurant and yell at the chef to cook your meal quicker—especially if they’re feeding you for free. So why, why, do you feel entitled to come into our inbox and DEMAND things from us, complete strangers?!
You want authors to write? Boost them. Give them some motivation. Leave comments. Repost stories you enjoyed reading. Engage with us between fics updates. Make us feel like you don’t only care for the free content, but care about the person behind the writing.
Be patient, be kind, be respectful.
