hello MOGAI + adjacent communities. In the new year, I plan to develop and keep up a MOGAI "newspaper" of sorts. It would host articles about current events in the community, interviews with coiners and archivists, as well as longer articles written and submitted by others about related topics.

with this in mind, considering this site will be community focused, what would people expect from a site like this? I split this question into two main focuses;

1. what content, in specific, would you want to see on the site? who would create it? would it be a specific set of editors, or would anyone be allowed to create posts? would posts have to be approved?
2. what features would you want to see on the site? how would it be navigated? would it have accounts?

this is going to be a very long term project, which currently has no proof of concept, but I intend to tackle it as a solo developer for its beginning stages. I also intend to self-fund the project until there is fair proof that it is functional, and that people enjoy it.

discussion about this concept can either be held in the reblogs of this post, or in this(link) hastily created discord server

Too politically correct - a poem (I tried)

To be honest, I dont quite know how to define politically correct.
You'd think a quick search would suffice,
But I cant untangle it from all the times it's been used against me.
It sounds almost like a cruel laughter to my ears,
And I forget it's not an adjective next to my name.

I live in a world of jokes and feelings.
Yesterday, a boy I had just met told a story about a girl he'd known once,
"retarded", he called her.
Then he saw my eyes, staring at him wide,
And when he noticed, something like embarassment came up.
He realized something was up, something was wrong.
And he started to defend himself.

You know the way they do it, when they start justifying something they said
"I didnt mean it as an insult" he goes, "I think she had trisomy 21?"
Disbelief overtook me enough to say, "why would you call her that?" .... "why did you need to insult her?"
"No, no. Im not sure that's what it was? She was just different, mentally, somatically"

'Different' was reason enough apparently,
It wasnt an insult if he just needed to communicate,

He asks me if Im "politically correct"
I understand. He was worried I didnt like him.
It was never about what he'd said, it was about my reaction.
He'd never thought he'd said anything wrong. [He'd never said anything wrong.]
He was worried *I* thought he'd said something wrong. [He'd never said anything wrong.]
Once established I was the sensitive one, he was alright. [After all, he'd never said anything wrong.]

Im helping a classmate with homework,
We crunch through physics I already know,
He needs my attention and calls
"Are you listening, nig?"
After questioning, he tells me it's just a term of endearement
like "a sweet little chocolate", he says.
I tell him to never say that again around me. [I know he will anyway.]

Same classmate, another time, he's weirdly receptive to my words,
He's listening,
So I bring up his use of the n word.
He chuckles and tells me it's just how he jokes,
He would know, after all, he has a black girlfriend and she has no problem with it. ("It makes her laugh")
I guess I dont know what Im talking about, Im the same white as him, so I shut up.

In a fit of frustration against history,
A friend calls a historical figure a "big faggot".
Once again, I have to go through the shock,
This time though, it hurts a little more,
I ask her, to please not say that, especially around me. [She's the only person in my class who knows Im gay.] [She apologizes because it's me.] [I know she'll say it anyway.] [I guess far away from me is the most I can ask.]
She tells me Im a bit too politically correct.
We go back to study history. We both get an excellent grade. I feel a little more unsafe.

A guy gets up in the middle of the class,
He loudly proclares two men shouldnt kiss in public,
I turn around from my seat and yell "what the fuck,"
For some reason, the professor applauds, and so follows the class. [The professor had called someone a fag once.] [My disbelief is the new show.] [It's all a joke to them.]
I walk up to the guy, trying to confront him.
Around me are classmates saying he's just stupid or just doing it to make me angry. [My anger is the new show.]
I say if that is the point, he has succeeded and Ill punch him. [My anger is the new show.]
Someone tells me it's just how he is,
"you know how autistics cant do maths," he says, "same thing, there's something wrong in his brain."
I stare.
[The guy is serious.]
The first guy says something like "it's nicer if it's two girls kissing though, like objectively," while he looks at me. [He has a smile on his face.] [So does the first guy.] [Everyone seems to be laughing.] [Im not.] [My anger is the new show.]
The professor has long stopped paying attention. Everyone goes home happy.
I feel a little more unsafe.

And again, a guy jokes about neutral words, I get angry, he gets mad at me. [He'd never said anything wrong.] [He was just joking.][It's me who is too politically correct.]
A guy brings up trans people saying he thinks altering one's body is against nature, I get in the conversation, he doesnt listen to me. [Not his fault.] [After all, he'd never said anything wrong.]
Guys use faggot and all its variants towards each other, they mimick "dominating" one another. [It's all a joke to them.] [I say nothing.] [I know they wont listen.] [They'd never said anything wrong.]
Guys call each other "moroccan", "mongolian" and "black" as insults. Guys call each other "disabled" and "trans" as insults. Guys call girls "boys" to declare how they're too ugly to be with. Guys do nazi salutes and say that they're "mocking" them. Girls call guys "cretins" to declare how they're too stupid to listen to. Girls joke about being lesbians and how funny it is to joke about being with a girl. Girls asks each other if they look too fat. Teens tell me I cant be asexual because Im not 50 yet.

I understand though. Im the one in the wrong. [The other, the different.]
Im the one who cares too much, who is too sensitive, who gets upset too easily.
Im the one to demand too much of them, Im the one who's in the wrong to ask for a change.
Im the one who should stop talking. [I cant.] [Even when I dont talk I cant hide how my face contorts in disgust and how my jaw slacks in disbelief and how my arms and legs tremble in fear and how my heart thumps against my chest from anxiety and how my eyebrows furrow in anger.] [I cant shut up.]

a term for when one selfships with their partners / crushes source (fictionkin, introject, etc) for whatever reason.

you may feel as if this is one whole relationship, or two seperate ones that sometimes come together to make one, or maybe just two separate relationships in general.

this term may be used to 'put a face' on who they like / are dating, to associate the two as the same / alike, or to avoid any confusion in ones brain when talking about their crush / partner, but none of these above is needed to use the term, these are just examples.

On my flags:

I believe my flags ; specifically my themed flags ; may be uhm being misunderstood in a way .. so I’m making this to clear things up ! (And to infodump because I have spent dozens of hours on these flags)

My themed flags aren’t the typical kind of themed flag since they aren’t altered or even based on preexisting flags ; so I understand that they’re .. different and easy to misinterpret . I hope this explains everything ; and please please ask questions if anything needs further explanation !!

To start ; they are not terms . They are not genders or general terms , they are very simply themed flags ! I don’t care much how folks use them , if one decides they identify with one of my flags as a gender , that’s fine ! As long as it’s recognized that they aren’t intended to be that ! So I would really prefer if they’re not tagged as gender or anything unless it’s specified that it’s only a personal interpretation

The husband and wife themed flags are still themed flags and aren’t really meant to be .. just husband / wife flags if that makes sense . I will maybe start making non-themed general husband / wife flags , like a non-themed puppywife flag , but currently I do not . Which means when requesting husband / wife flags from me ; please specify a theme or if its a base request or if its a general husband / wife flag request

They’re simply meant to be flags that are themed in specific ways ; meant for fun or aesthetic purposes without any real definitions or right or wrong way for them to be used ! As I said in another post ; one doesn’t have to be alterhuman , genderqueer , or even queer at all to use or collect my flags ! One doesn’t have to be deer alterhuman to use my deer flags ; one doesn’t have to be married to use my wife flags ; so on and so forth

I’m very particular about the process of making my flags so that they all fit into a standard I have set ; but I failed to ever share what that was when discussing them . If one plans to make flags using my template ; they do not have to follow this but I would very much appreciate if they did ! And these might all seem arbitrary ; and they sorta are ; but its how I specifically do things with my flags

These first two points are also generally important for understanding how I discuss my flags and how one may go about requesting flags

One ; terminology ; what terms I use when describing the flags and the process I use to make them !

Base - the puppy part of a cozy puppy flag

Theme - the cozy part of a cozy puppy flag

Icon - the symbol within the circle in the center of the flag

Two ; what qualifies under each term ; what I will use as a theme or a base , though both are a bit flexible

Possible Themes - Adjectives (cozy, sweet, adorable, soft) ; some objects / food (apple pie, rose, honey, ruby) ; nonspecific places (bakery, wheat field, cafe) or specific places in media (SCP sites, Minecraft Biomes) ; emotions + similar (obsession, love, anger) ; terms (obsessick, westamour, fictionkin)

Possible Bases - Animals + fictional animals (crow, boneshark, cow) ; characters (Pure Vanilla Cookie, Miku, Ichigo Kurosaki) ;

Things that could be both / either - Roles (knight, wife, maiden, damsel) ; some objects (teddybear)

Under the cut is stuff more specific for the flag making process ; important if one plans to make flags using my templates but not necessary for requesting flags !
