thinking about characters' connections to their pip-boys... with the different ways it's given to the player characters of the various fallout games i think it's interesting... is it a tool, nuisance, or constant companion to you...

YEAHHHH EXACTLY THIS Need to draw it more but- I think a lot about Riley's relationship with his Pip Boy. Riley- tech nerd that he is- dreamed of having a Pip Boy since he was a kid. Mainly because it's this hard-to-find piece of pre-war tech he was dying to own and prod at but also due to his mother being a former vault dweller- and him remembering her owning one. But he could never find a working/fixable model during his travels. But when Doc Mitchell offers up his old Pip Boy to him- Riley nearly has a damn heart attack on the spot. He initially refuses but Doc convinces him to take it. And quickly- the thing becomes his absolute most prized possession. He's always fiddling- poking- prodding- tinkering- modifying and maintaining it at any opportunity. Writes his own firmware- tweaking it- and making the thing his own. And he loves to be able to listen to his collection of drama holotapes again- he used to have a holotape player but it broke during a trip to Utah. So just in general- this dude loves his Pip Boy. Arcade being Arcade I think he would end up talking to this old man who showed up to Old Mormon Fort with an acute kidney injury who is dressed suspiciously like an escaped convict and says he needs to find his son who is a Great Khan. Arcade being Arcade knows there's Great Khans over in Westside so of course once the old man is well enough to walk he offers to escort him over there since it gets him out of Julie's hair and gives him an excuse to catch up with Tom Anderson. It's just a bonus that he happens to be gay and has a lot of stories that does something to Arcade's brain chemistry
