the woman dies.
I hate this trope so much....

“I think Kate's early years work is hollow. There are very few parents who don't know that spending more time with your kids when they are young helps them. The problem is that even with two full time parents most can't afford to even feed those children. People need free time to spend with those kids and still put food on the table. But I guess she's not particularly smart enough to know that not everyone has generations of colonial wealth stashed away and cannot afford to work less than 90 days a year.” - Submitted by Anonymous
Not my favorite subreddit, but those of us who work or have worked in medicine can always see all the holes in the "cancer" story THE KP TITANIC has put out for the last 18+ months.
People want to pretend that Kate, William, and the incompetent comms team at THE KP TITANIC would never lie, but it's so obvious that they have been since 16 January 2024.
Meanwhile, William and THE KP TITANIC decided to double-, triple-, and quadruple-down on the short-term thinking and stupidity, which is where we get Kate waxing poetic about her "port" to an actual cancer patient at The Royal Marsden in January 2025. Kate was probably only doing what THE KP TITANIC's comms team told her to do because they noticed all the chatter online since her March '24 Bench video. Except, when you don't have cancer and didn't go through actual chemo, lying about having a port on camera doesn't make the problem better. It makes it WORSE!
Such is the stupidity of THE KP TITANIC's comms team. Attempting to react to the chatter online, they attempted to release articles combating my referring to Kate as The UK's Marie Antoinette, tried to say Kate wasn't all about clothes, stopped using handbags, tried having Kate wear drab, funeral wear to most of her spring public engagements.
But it doesn't matter because either they started to realize their goose is cooked or Kate did, which is why she started smoking heavily again this past spring and clearly hasn't stopped. This is why she's so thin. She has a high metabolism as an ectomorph, and now she's been heavily smoking--which decreases the appetite--to manage her stress. Her skin shows that she's been smoking a lot. Her skin was a LOT better back in January at The Royal Marsden. This is also why Kate started back up with the handbags and new clothes. She knows that it really isn't going to make a difference with the public given the news that is going to hit in the coming weeks.
And for all that I've written about Kate, the real problem always has been and still is WILLIAM. He is unquestionably the cause of ALL of these short-sighted and stupid problems, but that is a story for another day...
“The concept of William and Kate going to Harry Potter’s exhibition while barely working is so laughable. Sure Diana took William and Harry to do some fun stuffs. But she was a hard worker. Even if you don’t like Diana, Charles equally, if not more, has a great work ethic. Can a great work ethic and tenacity be attributed to William (or Kate)? Highly doubt so.” - Submitted by Anonymous
“KP needs better messaging on Kate's health, and they need it NOW. Im still confused as to whether she had cancer or precancerous cells. Moreover her string of luxury vacations, outdoor sports, and turning up to fun/glam events have also convinced a lot of people she is a malingerer. I don't think that's true at all; she looked genuinely exhausted, dazed, and unwell at her recent museum event. KP doesn't necessarily need to release more details, but a more proactive and focused communication strategy would help them out a lot.” - Submitted by Anonymous
Looks like US media peeps that aren't getting missives from THE KP TITANIC are noticing what's going on here.
Well, Kathryn VanArendonk, it's called "the campaign to save William as heir to the throne," and it's been going all year. It was kicked off by William's dumb-as-a-box-of-rocks former communications secretary Jason Knauf giving an interview to 60 Minutes Australia. Judging by William's spindly legs in Eugene Levy's series, I suspect this episode was filmed sometime between late January and the end of March 2025.
Jason Knauf: “It’s very difficult to have this stuff play out in the public eye.” William: "Growing up I saw that with my parents," he tells Eugene. "And if you let that creep in, the damage it can do to your family life is something that I vowed would never happen to my family. And so, I take a very strong line about where I think that line is and those who overstep it, you know I'll fight against."
So, yes, William's appearance is "carefully orchestrated image rehabilitation."
William’s allegedly there because he is being a good host and giving Levy a personal tour. At no point does this ever resemble the fun reality travel show it’s meant to be. William moves through several highly sanitized attempts at vulnerable transparency without ever saying much, and although he’s pretty good at pretending, it’s never not odd that he’s just hanging out and telling Eugene Levy about his wife’s experience with cancer. Levy, for his part, does seem honestly fascinated and a little cowed by spending time with William, but that humility feels just as weird. This is Levy’s third season hosting a travel show. He’s been on a huge sitcom; he’s been in film and TV forever (remember, the American Pies!); he hosted the Emmys and SNL. No, he’s not royalty, but presumably he has seen an electric scooter before? He’s just so wowed by the experience, and his awe is so unearned. Obviously William is not here doing you a personal favor! This is elaborate, calculated image rehabilitation! Oddly, the end result is that Levy comes off as even more distant and inscrutable than William. William at least seems to be in on the game they’re playing.
Kathryn is a tv critic. She can see through the ludicrousness of William spontaneously talking about his personal life & woes to a Canadian actor, knowing full well a camera is filming them. Ludicrous because we all know Eugene should be doing actual fun, travel stuff rather than having to listen to William spit out prepared talking points about "change," "his grandparents," "my children," and "tradition."
But, hey, the idiot fangirls ate it up regardless.
"Carefully orchestrated image rehabilitation?"
Why, yes, it is. They're doing it in advance to propagate the belief that William could ascend to the throne any day now, knowing full well that is NOT the case. Only by suddenly ascending to the throne can William hide his reputational disaster. The one where he's pretending he's "do[ing] what's best for my children."
Don't worry. The UK public and the world at large is going to be the judge of that.
William is an emotionally-stunted, thin-skinned, privacy-obsessed control freak, indeed.
“Kate's decision to step back from public life is a huge mistake. Her youth and beauty went far in terms of shielding her from accountability for her chronic lack of real contributions. As those qualities fade (as they do for us all), the public will become increasingly disgruntled at paying for an expensive clothes horse with no work product. The steadying presence of older royals - mainly QEII, but also Chuck - has also provided huge cover for both Kate and Wills. Apres Charles, le deluge!” - Submitted by Anonymous
“I wonder why neither Catherine nor William go to society events anymore. Like 6-7 years ago, they used to pop up at horse trials or other aristo events. I have heard that they have become reclusive, even before Catherine's cancer diagnosis, maybe there's some truth to that hearsay.” - Submitted by Anonymous
“So the future King and Queen of England and Canada couldn’t bother to attend the Women’s Rugby World Cup final that’s being played in England? Kate is a poor excuse for a Patron - hardly interested unless it’s her own pet interest like Wimbledon. William can fly to Europe to watch his favorite men’s team play on a school night but can’t show up for countries he’ll one day be Head of State of. Lazy!” - Submitted by Anonymous
“For someone that wrote glazing commentary how her family loves rugby, it is unfortunate that Kate did not even bother to attend any match for Rugby Union World CUP 2025, which is hosted by England. Like she doesn't even have to travel far to support the team. It interesting she manages to attend Wimbledon, even in the middle of her cancer treatment, but does not extend the same courtesy to the Red Roses. Is it because the government did not make her do it? 🤔” - Submitted by Anonymous
“What is the point of Catherine being the patron of Rugby Union, if she doesn't even bother to support them? Supporting them through the World Cup is the bare minimum as a patron. I mean if she already has too much on her plate, why not make Zara or Mike the patron of RFU? Mike was literally a pro rugby player and Zara is also an equestrian/athlete/olympian, they know way around it and how to support them.” - Submitted by Anonymous
“Honestly, most royals are just lazy. Even the ones we champion for doing the bare minimum. I'm not saying you should work through a sickness or a pregnancy because well even if the common person has to do that we know the royals don't consider themselves peasants. But when public appearances are a way to make allowance money for you and you know your duty towards your country you could do that at the very least.” - Submitted by Anonymous
“Im sick of lazy royals i don't care what country or what position they hold in the family, WORK. I don't care what sort of ailments you have/ had, WORK. If you are the sons, daughters and in-laws of the king/ queen, WORK. If you are funded by the tax payer/ the nation and spending it like crazy, WORK. No excuse if the people have to through everything then so do you, if not, then stop wasting our time and money and GET LOST” - Submitted by Anonymous
“It is very funny that now William is Prince of Wales, he did not disclose whether he paid voluntary tax from proceeds from Duchy of Cornwall and how much he paid. Charles had always been transparent in this type of thing. But at the same time, William is also the same person that take credit for Charles' initiatives and brand it as his own. Kate is also no better. Her "Early Childhood Centre" or whatever it is take credit for Deloitte's parental leave changes (to 26 weeks to all parents). Meanwhile Deloitte has been working on it months before Kate's children centre was even created.” - Submitted by Anonymous
“It’s weird that William and Kate are suddenly being treated like they’re the only royals who have multiple homes lol. Like, what do you call Queen Elizabeth living in Buckingham Palace, Windsor, Sandringhan, and Balmoral? Did people suddenly forget about Charles’ property portfolio as Prince of Wales? William and Kate never said they “needed” multiple homes. They have multiple homes because they constantly change their minds about the where they want to live. They thought they were going to live in London forever, but decided they didn’t want to. They only kept KP because they already spent money refurbishing it prior to changing their minds about living in London. Anmer Hall is a country house” - Submitted by Anonymous
