"Tulpamancy" history lesson
Many people know that "tulpamancy" is a tibetan practice that endos appropriated, however many aren't aware that it wasn't called tulpamancy. And in the original practice, they weren't viewed as separate beings like many believe. "Tulpamancy" is just a bastardized version. I'd compare it to Wicca but worse honestly.
Original Tulpas: the word stems from the tibetan word for phantom, they're thoughts, and not independent of the person. Truly the original tibetan tulpa is completely different and not even related to tulpamancy. I also think it was related to prayer? Though I could be mistaken. (Tibetan buddhist beliefs specifically)
There is another history that affected the Western view of the tibetan tulpa, and that is the Mahayana Buddhist belief called "tulka", this one is kind of confusing but it's pretty much a physical body created by someone though? I'm not well versed on this part so please PLEASE do your own research!
Westernized Tulpamancy: Equivalent to imaginary friends honestly, people who believe they can will a separate being into reality wherein the "tulpa" is completely independent. As Europeans "learned" about Buddhist practices, they blended the religious practice of Tulpas and the belief of Tulkas into "I can create a guy"
Tl;Dr: Modern day "Tulpas" and "tulpamancy" is completely unique and separated from its origins due to racism and bastardization. A tulpa (originally) is not a creature made from the collective thought of the people ((sometimes portrayed as cryptids)), nor an imaginary friend/thought-made alter. ""Tulpagenic"" is not only incredibly racist but not even related to Tulpas. They're the exact same as willogenic. Tulpas are not sentient or autonomous, nor is the practice your fun new hobby.
