"GET EM HOWARD!!!"

I like the idea that Vince just sics Howard on any1 that pisses him off. When you got a 6'2" northern brick wall on ur side u gotta use him to his highest potential..

HAPPY NEW YEAR BOOSHLRS!!!!

It’s that time of the year where I rewatch a bunch of the old BFQOTY clips and I find it very amusing and cute that whenever Richard’s on a team with someone it’s very much | | unless it’s with Noel in which case they look more like /|

"Little Vince" was a prop in the 1998 Mighty Boosh stage show! Noel and Julian discussed "Little Vince" on BBC web chat in 1999.

Noel: "It's quite creepy having a small effigy of yourself...We've set fire to him...I don't know whether I'd like to hang on to it."

Julian: "We'll just have to see how it goes..."

Noel: "I might do a ventriloquist act with it on the comedy circuit and then go into the woods with it and go a little mad and kill people and pretend that it's the puppet that's doing it."

Covers of five ice hockey books and title saying Gay Ice Hockey Book RecsALT

Re-read Heated Rivalry too many times already? Here are some other gay hockey romances to scratch that itch

I have read a LOT of hockey romances in the past couple of years so many I've actually started going to irl ice hockey matches...

Full disclosure, I adore the show but I haven't read Heated Rivalry or anything else from the series, which is why it doesn't appear here (I mostly read books that are on offer for 99pence/cents or free via Bookbub, so that's what's directed my reading. I've probably missed some great stories that are just never on offer)

Here are my recs ... pls leave me yours in the notes

Brigham Vaughn - The Husband Game (575 pages)
Dustin, a big star hockey captain secretly gets married to 'Kitten', a retired men's figure skating champion, in Las Vegas. I loved this because of Charlie as much as Dustin. Some themes around eating disorders. Charlie is fluid in how he dresses and presents himself. Smut was good. Not a huge amount of hockey, should that be what you're there for (unlikely, I know). Brigham has two hockey series, Rules of the Game and Relationship Goals.

Side note: Brigham's 'Relationship Goals' series have a very handy glossary of ice hockey terms

CE Ricci - Iced out (380 pages) - College hockey book - this is teammates enemies to lovers and perhaps has the vibes closest to Heated Rivalry. I really liked it.

Eden Finley - Headstrong (252 pages). Straight guy falling for gay virgin. Straight, former hockey player who fell out of love with hockey falls for a recently out, virgin, college hockey player. Writing style is lighthearted. Enjoyed it a lot.

RJ Scott, VL Locey - Script (256 pages) - action movie star needs help to get an ice hockey acting role so he can come out. ADHD rep. Also read first in hockey series Harrisburg Railers by the same pair (first one is age gap). I prefer their books when they write together than separately.

S Legend - Heartbreak Hockey series - I read three of them. Particularly liked the first which is age gap. Second is fake boyfriends.

LA Witt and Anna Zabo - Rookie Mistake - (536 pages) Great, complex characters. Dom/sub. CW for abuse and aftermath (not between the MCs). Lots of hockey. Some people think the book is too long which I can see but it was a good read for me. 2nd in series Scoreless Game

Anna Zabo - Love of the Game (228 pages) Age gap. Star player who's lost his touch is demoted to a lower league team where he falls for his new captain. Part of the multi author hockey series The Games we Play

LA Witt - there are lots! Rebound (359 pages) is my favourite - age gap, the hockey star was in abusive relationship and a 40+ single-dad cop who answers his emergency call. Burner Account - school teacher befriends hockey star through trash talking online. Injured Reserve - open marriage.

Below the cut are ones I didn't enjoy so much.

If you’re looking for sports romance books to fill the Heated Rivalry void, I highly recommend these.
