Yes, and? Where's the misunderstanding here? You can modify someone's mind, in very crude and brutal ways, by modifying their brain. Phineas Gage survived having a hole punched in his brain by a railroad spike, and became a profoundly different person. in principle, how is this any different from a bit being flipped by a cosmic ray?

i think there is nothing intangible about the mind, nor any physically observable process. The mind and software are indeed both similarly physical: electrical impulses patterned according to a physical structure, be it silicon or brainmeat. Dualism is simply completely false and i see no good reason why anyone shouldn't be an eliminative materialist.
