Last night was the finale of my four-years-and-two-days long campaign! I’m looking forward to running shorter campaigns of systems Thirsty Sword Lesbians, Defy the Gods and Monster of the Week. TSL is already something I run a lot and my favorite system! We were using dnd 5e, but now I’ll be running other stuff.
The setting was a Greco-Roman world where an evil god rose up in a late medieval/early modern era to take power from the Olympians, using the corrupt empire as a tool for tyranny.
The last battle was a wild ride:
- A player character was knocked four times but due to mastering animal shapeshifting managed to hang onto a thread of life. They also now have a spooky magical jackal as a pet.
- A player character rode off into the sunset with BOTH a phoenix and a dragon in humanoid form, handfasted for a year and a day.
- A player character died while literally face to face with the big bad, nearly striking it down first, and while a ghost got a wink from the goddess of the dead. They got better.
- A player character transformed into a dragon and then created a whole brand new holiday in the ruins of Rome.
They lost some allies in the final battle including a wizard, an animated statue, and seven berserker giants. They might resurrect the wizard, if only to avoid an awkward conversation with his clone and bestie back in Londinium.
Next week we’ll use the ttrpg Miles End to do a prologue “x years later” and a bar crawl across the planes!
