I think these are definitely handmaidens and NOT the goddesses with same name even tho Asteria and Iaso’s photos on Wikipedia and Theoi are of these paintings bc it doesn’t make thematic or narrative sense for these goddesses to be there with Hippodamia. You could make the argument that Iaso is there to symbolize good health which obviously ppl want in a marriage, but why would Asteria be there? She has no involvement in Hippodamia’s story and she isn’t even involved in the general region Hippodamia is from. Eurynoe is just a different version of Eurynome which is a common name in mythology so this couldn’t be the goddess either.
I find it interesting how Oenomaus dedicated so much to Zeus, even specifically Zeus Areios (for obvious reasons) bc in other accounts it’s made clear that the gods hated Oenomaus’s guts bc of how he’d slaughter Hippodamia’s suitors, so perhaps Oenomaus realizes this and to compensate he sacrificed to Zeus every time he’s about to slay a suitor.
Which seems to fail bc Zeus still destroyed his house.
Thinking about how Hippodamia and Evarete probably had to live in some nobleman’s house bc the palace was destroyed due to Oenomaus’s tomfoolery lol
Oenomaus probably doubled down on his violence even after his house was destroyed which makes me think that the gods considered punishing him with some other natural disaster but then decided “nah let’s send Poseidon’s boy toy to kill Oenomaus, fuck his daughter and take his throne all in the span of 24 hours that’s what he deserves”.

It’s absurd to me that there’s gonna be “banter” and insults and general animosity between Andromeda and Ceto bc… isn’t Ceto a Nereid??? The one time someone insulted them they told their brother in law and he flooded a whole country! One major point that makes Andromeda sympathetic in the myths is that she did nothing to slight the gods, she did everything right and honored them but got punished for her mother’s actions. To make it so that not only does Andromeda insult a nereid - a goddess - to her face but ENJOY doing it is yet another blatant mischaracterization that it should be called dis-characterization bc ain’t no way that’s not on purpose.
How does Andromeda feel comfortable and even excited insulting a literal goddess? How come Ceto can do no more than take it?? We’re told that she’s a sharp super serious character yet she lets a mortal disrespect her and does nothing but clap back with further insults and not… kill her??? If she’s worried Poseidon might retaliate then kill she and make it look like an accident???? This is literally just Elphaba and Glinda’s dynamic in Wicked isn’t it? lol
Even Perseus, the guy who literally went to WAR against a god, still respected Dionysus and tried to deescalate the situation. He didn’t gleefully insult the fucking god of madness!

We already know that Fujoshis would villainize Hippodamia if Pelops became popular but we aren’t scared enough of the possibility that a retelling is gonna go “actually Hippodamia was kidnapped and raped by Pelops and she hated all those other suitors and her dad just wanted to protect her but Pelops smeared his name to make himself look better ☝️🤓” I know this could happen to Hippodamia bc it’s happened to Andromeda more than once.
