Aside from Akhlys's dark ambient debut, The Dreaming I introduced us to the fantastical oneiric black metal of Naas Alcameth, inspired by his own visions and nightmares during sleep paralysis. His work has an eerie, intense sound, with dark and terrifying soundscapes shaped by its dream concept, setting him apart from the overdone Satanic themes. The opening of 'Tides of Oneiric Darkness' is the quintessential moment of the album, transporting me to the wondrous shadow realm within.
