Idk what Capcom's going for with the leather jacket and gloves being held in place by straps and buckles, but since we're going back to Raccoon City and Leon might be infected, I can't help but notice the visual parallel. Kind of like how Chris has a similar ensemble to Wesker now, since this dude was Leon's Big Trauma.

So something I think is very poignant about this is that, in a way, it kind of invalidates Tim's fears. In MH he has a breakdown wondering if, without him around, everyone would have gone on to live happy lives.
And now it looks like that isn't fully the case. Brian, Seth and Amy maybe. But Jay and Alex? Tim's (theorized) disappearance only postponed it. Him not being around didn't save everyone, which lines up perfectly with how Joseph once described the Operator as a force of nature. No matter the universe, seems those two were always going to contract the disease. Which somehow feels both vindicating on Tim's behalf and simultaneously a new kind of horror.
Troy, Joseph and the gang are once again knocking it out of the (rosswood) park. I watched the original MH back when it was coming out, and it shaped so much of my taste in horror, as well as my style of writing. That series has always meant so much to me creatively, and getting a new miniseries is something I never would have thought possible.
Cannot wait for the rest!
I need someone to do a video essay-length deep dive into how 75% of the BG3 fandom fell so hard for Astarion's manipulative seductor act that they believe that's his actual personality. This man has to practice his lines and still fumbles them constantly. He flat-out says it's all a front because he believes his sex appeal is the only reason anyone would keep him around, which is tragic. When he drops the act, he becomes this kind of silly man rediscovering what it means to be himself, and what it means to both love and be loved. He says "I'm all pointy ears, love." while turning his head to show off those pointy ears. Let him be silly, let him be awkward! It's so much more authentic then him being a walking innuendo.
He has a mid charisma stat with a bonus for deception and rolled a nat 20 on all y'all.
You asked, I began writing. Hereβs some long-form character analysis, focusing on how fandom reads Astarion versus what the game actually shows.
Part 1 - Introduction
Part 2 - Astarion as βthe sexy vampire who could ruin you (and thatβs hot)β
Part 3 [Coming soon!] - Astarion as βthe soft uwu boy who just needs someone gentleβ
Hope you enjoy, OP!

You watch the animated Resident Evil movies looking for good storytelling in a horror-action setpiece. I watch the animated Resident Evil movies to see hot men in tactical gear say and do stupid shit.
We are not the same.
