Today on stream:

Impulse talks about Skizz for 4 1/2 minutes straight

Transcript!

"[reading chat] 'Hunka-dunka-chunka farms!' [trails off into laughter] That's so Skizz-coded right there. That is a Skizz-coded name right there. [deepens his voice to imitate Skizz] 'Hunka-dunka-chunka farms.' [laughs]

If I called it that, people would just be like, 'Dang, Skizz is running—[stammers] rubbing off on you, man.' I mean, after twenty...five years or whatever it's been...[pause to drink water] probably has.

Oh no, it's been more than twenty-five years, I just realized. I just did the math. I just did the math, I'm like, 'It's 2026, twenty-five years would be 2001. I graduated before that, which means I met Skizz before that...' We're talking thirty years, guys. Thirty years. Three...decades I've had to put up with that guy.

[laughs, loudly] I'm just kidding, I love 'im! Obviously he wouldn't still be in my life three decades later if the guy wasn't awesome. Uh... [chuckles] Yeah. Geez. That is a long time though, innit?

Anyone here...anyone here...have a friend...that have been in their life—[quickly, aside] 'cuz I know some people probably married that long and stuff, but let's just go with [stammers] not counting partners, just platonic friendships—has anyone here had a thirty-plus year platonic friendship with somebody?

PROJECT SYMBIOSIS: STATUS COMPLETE

Half a year and dozens of hours of work later, my Big Dang Project for the @impandskizz-zine is finally complete. This has been a passion project and a labor of love for me for almost the entire time I’ve had this blog, and it’s so surreal to finally release it to the world.

My eternal love to Imp and Skizz and the podcast, and much thanks to the mods and organizers and all the other artists and writers who made the zine a reality. Go check it out here!

No, I’m not projecting the heatwave on the arctic fox…. Hahah… why would you say that??

sometimes finding aromanticism in media isn’t literally about aromanticism… sometimes it’s about the deconstruction of love as a concept and the subversion of its perception as inherently humanising. it’s about the decentering of romance as a driving force in the narrative. and also sometimes it’s about love being central to the narrative but in a way that defies all traditional categorisations of romantic / platonic / anything else. it is the secret third thing yet so much more and less at once. the point is aromanticism is everywhere for those with eyes to see

Just a normal lighthouse

Bi icon in her horror fish era reaching 2 million during Pride Month...What more could we ask for...<3

I think a lot of autistic taking-things-literally goes under the radar because what the diagnostic tests and shit ask about is not what that generally looks like in an adult and often not in kids either and much more importantly it’s not what generally actually causes problems in real life instead of being irritating for caretakers or funny to bullies or easy to diagnose

I have absolutely no issues understanding metaphors or idioms. When someone says their heart is on their sleeve they mean they’re emotionally expressive and openly display their feelings, not that they have a chunk of cardiac tissue on their shirt. I very rarely have issues with sarcasm. I sometimes have issues telling when someone who’s said something mean is about to say “just kidding”, but tbh I think that’s more on them than me.

BUT

My grandmother asked me “Do you know when the trash was taken out last?” and I said “I think Eliot took it out yesterday” and a few hours later she yelled at me for “not taking out the trash when I asked you to” and I was like???? You didn’t ask me????

I dread filling out forms and am crap at filling out diagnostic tests or personality quizzes because there are always questions I don’t know the exact answers to (how am I supposed to know what day I got dental surgery seven years ago?) or don’t understand exactly what they’re asking or the wording’s unclear and they could mean this or the wording says this but I’m pretty sure what they actually meant was this and should I answer what they said or what they meant, and how does everyone else just whip through the form when surely they can’t know all the answers either? Does everyone else remember the day they got dental surgery seven years ago?

I get tangled up by bureaucracy because the rules on the website say that for this you need that and for that you need the other and for the other you need something else for which you need the first thing, and I go in circles for hours or days or weeks or months or years because their stated rules say there is no way to get what I need, and when I talk to somebody else they’re like “just call them?” and I’m like “how could that help? the rules say that what I’m trying to do is impossible”

And all of that? That’s how “taking things literally” ACTUALLY affects your life as an adult. It’s not “haha you think ‘getting under your skin’ means parasites”. It’s “you have real difficulty functioning in the world because everyone else is conveying things through implication and assuming that you know that rules are flexible and questions are approximate and you’re supposed to lie on job applications, and you don’t”.

Oh my Godddd. The US Army chorus was told to perform at the White House for Trump and his cronies and they chose to perform One Day More from Les Miserables. What a gutsy move. A giant middle finger to authoritarianism right in front of Trump's face. Good for them.

To every member of the military and every civil servant fighting in big ways and small, public and private, to protect the Constitution and uphold the oaths you swore, thank you for your service. We see you and we love you. We're counting on you and we're all behind you 100%. Hold the line.

This made me actually tear up and feel a little hopeful. Everyone, no matter who they are needs to do their part. The Fascists are dangerous but they are few. Together we can all defeat them and keep the freedoms so many have fought so hard for.

Also I am living for these comments!

lmao it seems Zuckerberg is taking this off Instagram because it hurts the feelings of Nazi traitors. It'd sure be a shame if we spread it like wildfire on here...
