valyriansource is happy to announce our first ever creator event! In collaboration with @ironbornsource, we will be hosting an IRON ISLANDS APPRECIATION WEEK, from the 4th to the 10th of April 2022! This will be a book-only event, meaning that any and all creations using book content are welcome. Join in by sharing gifs, artwork, edits, fanfiction and meta appreciating the Iron Islands! Use the hashtag #ironislandsweek2022 for your work to be found and reblogged by the host blogs, and the whole community. 

There will be two prompts per day; feel free to choose one or the other, or even both, to inspire your works:

• Day One: Favourite House and/or Politics and Reforms
• Day Two: Historical Event/Era and/or Thralls and Saltwives
• Day Three: Ironborn Women and/or Parallels and Contrasts with other ASOIAF Cultures
• Day Four: Fashion and/or Favourite Rulers (or Potential Rulers)
• Day Five: Myths and Legends and/or Locations
• Day Six: Culture and Religion and/or Favourite Ships (boats, not relationships!)
• Day Seven: Favourite Character and/or Theories and Predictions and/or Salt, Stone, Steel

JON SNOW MONTH 2022❄️Day 14: Arya Stark.

“First lesson,” Jon said. “Stick them with the pointy end."Arya gave him a whap on the arm with the flat of her blade. The blow stung, but Jon found himself grinning like an idiot. "I know which end to use,” Arya said. A doubtful look crossed her face. “Septa Mordane will take it away from me.”

“ I have need of every man who knows which end of the spear to stab into the wildlings.”“The pointy end.” Jon had told his little sister something like that once, he remembered.

He had been in her half a hundred times by now, but always beneath the furs, with others all around them. He had never seen how beautiful she was. Her legs were skinny but well muscled, the hair at the juncture of her thighs a brighter red than that on her head. Does that make it even luckier? He pulled her close. “I love the smell of you,” he said. “I love your red hair. I love your mouth, and the way you kiss me. I love your smile. I love your teats.” He kissed them, one and then the other. “I love your skinny legs, and what’s between them.” He knelt to kiss her there, lightly on her mound at first, but Ygritte moved her legs apart a little, and he saw the pink inside and kissed that as well, and tasted her. She gave a little gasp. “If you love me all so much, why are you still dressed?” she whispered. “You know nothing, Jon Snow. Noth—oh. Oh. OHHH.”

In ASoIaF, how morally gray a protagonist is depends on the complexity of the situation they find themselves.

The complexity of the situation determines how limited a character’s choices are and often times their choices are between a bad decision or an even worse decision. It would therefore be unfair to use that bad decision to define a character’s morality.
