This one hits. Pallbearer ace their sparser arrangements and lighter proggy rock elements, the latter adding more emotional complexity. What’s heavier than heavy? Quavering brokenness. The passages of quiet devastation, interspersed with the tidal wave of yearning obliterative volume, just feels more Pallbearer than ever. A triumphant move: keeping things fresh and landing with a sound that is still your own, but keeps a listener engaged. I’m gonna need a minute after listening to Daybreak.

This band is amazing! For having only 3 elements - drums, bass, vocals, the music has a ton of variety yet cohesion. It's half metal (think Om, but more aggressive) and half rock (catchy motifs and songs). The smooth but powerful vocals really put things over the top. Every song is unique and memorable, and the record rewards repeat listens.
