Honestly, imagine that you’re eleven years old when you discover some really random benign superpower like you can walk on water or something. You have no intention of ever doing it in public, because why would you need to? But instead of being able to just live a normal life with an inconsequential secret, your parents freak out and send you to a special school where the principal can literally read your thoughts and control you if he wanted to. And you’re just expected to go about your regular studies and do exams and shit, knowing he’s there potentially listening in on your sex dreams. Meanwhile your fellow classmates are a monsoon, a werewolf and a nuclear bomb.

There must have been cases where Xavier was just like,
“Yeah um … your power isn’t weird or dangerous enough and it’s not worth recruiting you to become a weapon. Just go home, Steve”
