Its razor-sharp fins grazed your side as it spiraled past, the speed of the strike leaving a jagged, burning line across your ribs.
"No!" Aonung hissed, drawing his knife as he kicked his Ilu between you and the circling predator.

K’shane leaped from his mount before it even stopped, landing gracefully in the shallows. "If it isn't my favourite sea warrior", he grinned, stepping directly into Sa’reya’s personal space. He didn't bow; instead, he reached out and playfully flicked a strand of her hair. "You’ve grown, Sa’reya. The reef has been kind to you."
Sa’reya laughed—a genuine, light sound that made Neteyam, who was standing ten feet away with his family, go completely still.
