Sorry to inform you, but that is "real socialism". History has shown that this is how socialism works out every time it has been tried. It won't be long before they are trying to starve out the undesirables. Real Socialism ends in death and destruction.
Socialism is for the people, NOT the socialists!
My friend, that is how socialism is billed. Communism as well. They both make a claim of being "for the people" and they both ignore the most basic human trait.
The trait of being self serving.
Being self serving is not a bad thing in and of itself. The problem arises when people assume a position of authority over their fellow man. Being self serving and having access to wealth and power corrupt.
There is an old saying that says "power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely".
Both communism and socialism give absolute power to the government. In turn roles in the government attract the wrong kind of people. People who put themselves above all others.
Socialism assumes that people are inherently good and will do the right thing. Communism assumes that people are inherently bad and must be forced to do the right thing. Neither make the connection that mankind IS INHERENTLY SELF CENTERED.
I don't care who you are, I'll bet that you are the main character in the story of your life. You might give lip service to the people who have helped you along the way, but ultimately your life is about you.
There's nothing wrong with that. It's the story of every human being.
However understanding this human condition it is imperative that the power and authority of government remain in check. Something like a Constitutional Republic with checks and balances to keep the government in line. Maybe the people in this Republic should have Arms so that they can keep the government from abusing the inherit nature of government.
George Washington said that Government is force... It is a fearful servant and a dreadful master.
Both communism and socialism produced dreadful masters... Inherently... Democracies do the same.
We The American People cannot become okay with the idea that a little bit of socialism is a good thing. Like yeast, a little bit will work through the whole batch. This kind of thinking has produced an American public that is wholly unfit for freedom. The American People are demanding from the government the very things necessary of yesteryears slave owners. They ask for this in the name of social equity, be it communism or socialism.
Often enough even good people ask for these things and they cite the book of Acts as a reference. They good people haven't read the scriptures closely enough to understand what a disaster that turned out to be.
Ultimately the only thing that will right this nation is Stewardship and a return to the Laws of Nature and Nature's God.
Be careful when drinking at the pool of knowledge. Drinking only half a glass can make a person walk away thinking that they know more than they really do. History has shown the devastation of both communism and socialism and it ends the same way every time. Do not be so naive as to believe that you will get it right the next time it is tried. The lesson to be learned is not to try it at all.
