I'll never accept the premise that we can never let another person of color or woman at the top of the Democratic ticket again. If the country continues to be so racist and sexist that they keep electing Republicans, then that's how it'll go until that isn't the case anymore.

There will never be a "safe" time to run a minority or woman at the top of the ticket. Obama was not the "safe" option in 2008.

I feel it would not be difficult to find articles from 2007-8 where it is insisted Obama would cause a republican win in 08
