Three pages of a zine. First page: someone browsing the eBay search results for wolf plush. Second page: A cursor hovering over a more expensive plush toy, with the text: I haven't bought a plushie online in a while, but I set out to buy a somewhat realistic wolf plushie so I could name it after a fictional character on my mind. It was a toss-up between two, but I treated myself to the more expensive one,. Third page: The person happily opening a package with the plush inside. Text: because I knew I'd regret it if I didn't buy it. Andriy was larger in person than I expected, and more realistic! The word that came to mind was handsome.ALT
The next three pages of the zine. A person running holding the plush and their water bottle, with text: It's my habit to hang out with any new toy I get, but I had to go to work that evening! I took him to work with me. Like I said, Andriy is weirdly realistic... Someone remarked on my travels that they thought I was holding a real dog. (A realistic illustration of the plush.) He startles me sometimes, too. Even after a few months, I'm stilling hanging out with him a lot. (Drawing of them on the computer together.) He joins me on my travels when I drive to work. (The wolf plush in the passenger seat of a car.)ALT
The last two pages of the zine. The person is laying in bed, plush under their arm. The text is: He is the perfect size to hug, and very soft, too. When I shift and feel my warmth reflected back on him, I feel like he might be alive after all! (The final illustration, the plush is a real small wolf.)ALT

I finally got a printer/scanner so i can share this minizine i made in july ::-)

As promised, it’s finally here! Thank you to all of my patrons for not only the support that made this possible, but for giving me the confidence to work on a big project like this.

Rather than providing any drawing instruction, what this writeup aims to do is help you learn to unpack the decisions being made in a given composition, and articulate what elements in a piece are responsible for its impact. Being able to isolate these qualities in your own art and art that inspires you opens up avenues for improvement regardless of medium, style, or technical skill. This is the first of hopefully many PWYW art ‘tutorials’ from me.

I hope you all enjoy!

Rest in Peace to Renee Good. ICE shooting an innocent 37 year old mother attempting to protect her neighbors is not an accident or an act of self defense, it is an act of terror designed to dissuade other people from stepping in, documenting ICE violence and reminding immigrants of their rights. Her son is now an orphan and the president of the United States is calling her a ‘professional agitator’ on social media.

The head of ICE is calling her a violent terrorist and claimed her attempt to back her car away was actually an effort to murder the ICE officers present.

There’s a reason that the Right have all rallied so quickly behind this narrative: it’s happened before, with ICE’s approval.

Renee is the ninth person to have been shot by ICE since last September; and in all of those shootings the victim was in a vehicle and the agents claimed that the vehicle was “a threat”/trying to “run them down.” One other shooting, that of Silverio Villegas Gonzalez, was also lethal.

This is pretty clearly a sanctioned tactic being used by ICE repeatedly with an eye towards using the vehicle-as-weapon excuse later.

if you’re afraid of roundabouts you shouldn’t be.. they’re beautiful pieces of roadway engineering that prevent much more anguish than they cause. loosen up and enjoy the experience of using a Roundabout next time you see one. they’re quite intuitive and much faster than a light
