As a queer person online who is not from the dominant cultural powerhouse in the world, the most common phrase I see is "know your queer history". I was always annoyed by this mantra not because I didn't want to take the time to understand the evolution of queerness through time but because that statement was always silently referring to North American queer history.

Australians. We now have an incredible new LGBTIQA+ documentary about queerness in Australia's colonial and Aboriginal history and it's written by gay comedians. Wins all around. If you want to learn about YOUR queer history, the three part documentary Queerstralia is now showing on ABC iView. Go go go!

I want to write a book called “your character dies in the woods” that details all the pitfalls and dangers of being out on the road & in the wild for people without outdoors/wilderness experience bc I cannot keep reading narratives brush over life threatening conditions like nothing is happening.

I just read a book by one of my favorite authors whose plots are essentially airtight, but the MC was walking on a country road on a cold winter night and she was knocked down and fell into a drainage ditch covered in ice, broke through and got covered in icy mud and water.

Then she had a “miserable” 3 more miles to walk to the inn.

Babes she would not MAKE it to that inn.

Are there any other particularly egregious examples?

This book already exists, sort of! Or at least, it’s a biology textbook but I bought it for writing purposes:

It starts with a chapter about freezing to death, and it is without a doubt the scariest thing I’ve read in years (and I read a lot of horror fiction).

This book can be downloaded for free on Researchgate, posted there by the author himself:

BREAKING: 21-year-old protester, Kaden Rummler, was shot point-blank in the face by ICE. he just spoke about how he’s blind for life and almost died:

“I will be blind for life. I have fractures in my skull that they can't fix. They pulled a piece of plastic the size of a nickel out of my eye. I had shards of metal, glass, and plastic behind my eye and in my skull. They said it was a miracle I survived.”

What the hell is wrong with these people?

GoFundMe for Kaden Rummler, the young trans man blinded by ICE agents this week.

“Why isnt there a girl version of the ww2/ancient rome/napoleonic war/cold war history boy” one teenage girls are very much interested in those topics as well they just tend to speak up less about it because those spaces are full of misogynist assholes. Two it’s because reporting back from the field the main camps of interest for teenage girls tend to be messy dynastic collapses (the Plantagenets, the Romanovs, Marie Antoinette), what I’m gonna call disaster history (the Titanic, Chernobyl, the triangle shirtwaist factory fire that one is serious business to them), gross wacky medical shit, and most popular of all what I would describe as a naescent desire to get to the heart of all human evil and understand what could motivate it (imperialism, genocide, eugenics).

i always convince myself i dont sound that weird and then i go out in the world and get involved in anything longer than transactional small talk and its like ohhh thats right ive only been hanging out with gay people who speak in riddles

you know you've fucked up when other TMAs are joining terfs in mocking you. imagine being so fucking vile you make terfs look reasonable and agreeable by comparison

you sound like how white people do when they use AAVE wrong. me and my TMAs think you're goofy

a trans woman of color I follow on YouTube had to move countries because she was being stalked and directly threatened by a white trans woman.

That is to say: TMA is not something that means "always right". Pointing out transmisogyny doesn't even mean the trans woman on the receivung end of it is totally innocent of every wrong ever. You can do something wrong (to be clear, isff, lily, and those supporting these girls didn't do anything wrong that they haven't addressed) and not deserve stalked and harassed.

Also I wouldnt... be glad that other TMA people are willing to side with TERFs. That means they think there are some TMA people are acceptable to put on the chopping block and that they are immune from this treatment because of the agreement with oppressors. It is not true and I hope they stop this shit before they hurt more people and inevitably get hurt themselves.

If there are any minors following me remember don't talk to cops, vandalism is cool, and your body is YOUR body so do what the fuck you want with it

Paint pens are a couple bucks or just put them in your pocket and walk out because shoplifting is cool too

It's always morally correct to deface advertisements but please be respectful of other peoples art

The anarchy symbol or trans symbols are always good but really it's about reminding people in power that we live here too

All rules can be put into two groups; don't touch the hot stove and don't walk on the grass

For the first group the consequences of your actions are real, they're directly related to your action. These rules can be broken only if you accept the risk first, maybe you want a burnt hand idk you do you

For the second group the consequences are imagined and enforced by authority, they aren't directly related to your actions people in power just want you to think they are. You should break these rules as often as you can get away with

"You are the gender you were coercively assigned at birth" is in the second group

I say "if" but I know for a fact there are minors following me

You wont catch me trying to deprive a vulnerable group of people of community

Calvin's dad: listening to pirated music? I'll show you something interesting.

All rules can be put into two groups; those that have a real consequence and those that have a manufactured consequence enforced by an authority, right?

Calvin: yeah...

Calvin's dad: don't pirate music? Manufactured. Don't touch the hotplate? Real. Don't walk on the grass? Manufactured. Don't climb into the tigers enclosure? Real.

Despite appearing to have real consequences "don't self harm" is actually manufactured

if youre 'monitoring' a trans woman and waiting for her to 'slip up', youre a cop, a transmisogynyist, and a stalker. why do you think trans women are so afraid of publicly existing? why do you think trans women are often so separatist? because we're fucking monitored and instantly pounced upon the moment we step out of line, i.e. do something deemed even remotely unacceptable by a transmisogynist stalker.

you fuckers will exercise fascist behavior and call it 'justice' simply because you think your hatred of fascism makes you incapable of being a fascist and a cop yourself

on top of this - if you're meticulously documenting someone's sex life (whether that's on a private or "public" blog-- indeed the defense that "its publically avaliable information" echoes the sentiment of rape apologia.. was she asking for it? by posting?), exposing that information to hundreds of people, casting aspersions, speculating about her kinks, interests, behaviour, etc... then YOU are the sexual harrasser!!!

Me: Tom Cruise I picked up more plain steamed fish for you to eat for every meal because of your pathologies

Tom Cruise: thank you so much. By the way I feel that we have been through enough together - you doing a Misery on me and breaking both my legs, etc - that you can just call me Tom

Me: Thank you for saying that Tom Cruise
