Once upon a time this was a poetry and writing blog, now it’s… you know, a chronicle of my descent into madness kinda thing.

Typical blogging fare will include screaming about whatever I’m currently dopamining for my will to live; science fiction, arthuriana, CHICKENS, mystery serials, CHICKENS, cryptids, art, poetry, CHICKENS, crochet, writerly blathering, etc. Occasionally I vent about chronic illness or bad parenting, but I try to tag appropriately—let me know if you need something tagged a certain way for blocking purposes.

the thing is…

there have been times in my life where I thought hmm, yes, this seems right, and it turned out later I was SUPER incorrect—

but there has never been a time when I thought hmm, no, this seems wrong, and I wasn’t eventually proven 200% correct.

this makes telling myself I am overreacting progressively more difficult with every red flag I ignore that comes back to bite me.

I don’t think I am being unreasonable, actually.

i promised myself I would keep the [redacted] fandom stuff quarantined to the sideblog but even robbed of context this is a banger quote I need to put in my journal to remember forever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever amen

“You sure are putting words together in a sentence with grammatical competency, I’ll give you that.”

When we were children, my sister had private music lessons at her violin teacher’s house. I only visited there once, but I still remember that afternoon. The teacher had an artificial pond in her yard, a large beautiful thing with lily pads and plant life. And in the pond, there were goldfish. I had never seen such enormous goldfish.

I spent several minutes just staring at them (and trying to convince them to bite my fingers.) When my sister’s violin lesson ended, her teacher came out to the yard and explained that these goldfish were the same small creatures that were often unfortunately sold in plastic bags at state fairs. They were only about two inches long apiece, when she bought them and put them in the new, empty pond. In essence, they were like every goldfish I had seen before, but they had been given a much larger, much richer environment in which to flourish. As a result, they had grown into some of the most remarkable, vibrant creatures my twelve-year-old self had ever met with. All because of a pond.

Funny what lessons children remember. My sister doesn’t play the violin anymore, but that was the first time I caught a glimpse of the overwhelming extent to which it matters, the way the world treats us.

I think this might be the best post of yours I’ve ever read

insulting on behalf of the MANY clown husbandry posts i have gifted to you over the years

*gathers all of the people in the world who write the number 7 with a little dash in the center of it so I can study them like little critters and find out what makes them do that*

There’s actually a lot of history regarding the development writing systems and why there are different visual representations of numerals, but the short answer is: it’s regional, and you probably picked up how to make your numbers look based on your parents or your primary school teachers

I do it out of spite because in grade school a kids detective story identified the culprit by saying NO American wrote their sevens with a line and I thought that was super flimsy evidence and it made me so mad I started putting a line through my sevens so the fictional detective would be wrong and then kept doing it for several decades since.

I do feel one can’t underestimate the “elementary school child taught themselves how to do this Out Of Spite” crowd

I started doing this in my 30s because I like how it feels to write, same with my 5s, I do the little s squiggle with a dash off the top, it’s just very satisfying! ff-fft-dash!

thinking about changing Jonathan’s name to Jeremy because

1. Tom and Jerry is ABSOLUTELY the kind of stupid joke his father would have made

2. Remy is a cute alternative Jeremy and Leah would have agreed on when they ran away and changed their names

3. Rem is a name he can live with.

So in the prologue we are introduced Leah and Jerry, but the first time we see him all grown up as a background/side character Graham knows him by Rem,

So there’s no immediate connection until after the school shooting when Avery calls him Remy, and then in the flashback we get the explanation that he never liked Jerry but when he found out the name on his BC was Jeremy he liked that (and not really remembering his mother, her handwriting on his BC is literally all he has left of her) but of course couldn’t really use it because they were in hiding, so they were going with Rem/Remy until he turned 18.

Because his whole arc is kinda about like… holding onto/reclaiming who you are, or re-discovering who you are underneath all the layers of what people have told you you are. Who you have had to be to survive VS who you want to be when you do have the choice

I dunno. Changing a characters name is always a hard shift for me but it really does suit him better than Jonathan

ooo maybe I should make Modred a lawyer instead of police/fire/paramedic

that would support his theme of sort of being the viewed as a traitor—everyone expected him to follow Arthur’s footsteps and become a cop (would even have accepted him following Lancelot into becoming a firefighter instead)

but instead he became one of those people who polices the police

which would put the current team as…

Tristan: Cop (the source of their cases)

Vivian: Daughter of a private investigator, noticing evidence and making connections,

Mordred: Lawyer, asking questions and poking holes in their theories

That feels very workable 🤔

OH WORSE Modred is a DEFENSE ATTORNEY.

might go back to Vivian having a nursing degree tho, she needs to be framed as opposite to Dr. Emrys…

So maybe she gets her degree and comes back to Albion but Dr. Emrys can only offer her a couple shifts in his clinic so she needs the diner job to make ends meet.
