In the Japanese version of Wario World, an extra phase was added to the final boss battle against the Black Jewel that was not present in the other versions.

However, in addition to this, there was also a modification to its animations. In the international versions, the Black Jewel stays smooth for the entirety of the battle (left). In the Japanese version, its surface becomes more and more distorted before it loses a segment of its health, whereupon it is restored to being smooth again (right).
