non-american gyns, does the gender fandom in your country also solely exist off parroting and copying whatever american “queers” do?

it’s so funny to watch. no, “they/them” doesn’t work in our language🥺

talking about “homonormativity” is ridiculous, being gay is still a crime in our country🥺

“who threw the first brick at the stonewall” discourse is sooo interesting, but i recommend learning at least a little about lgb history in your homeland🥺

it becomes so clear that these people solely exist online. they don’t even consider that american realities - maybe, just maybe- are slightly different from ours.

american “queer” community is ridiculous by itself, but trying to mimic and recreate it results in a full blown circus.

what’s really amazing to me is that people are so afraid of body hair on women that even in a shaving commercial they won’t show a hairy leg. they demonstrate the razor by shaving a hairless leg. they show their product being completely useless instead of showing leg hair. it’s just crazy

Every time you waste another hour of your short and precious life arguing with a stranger on the internet a tech company puts more money in their bloated pockets at the expense of your attention span, peace, and productivity. Getting in internet fights might feel fun or satisfying or rewarding for you but you’re literally sitting at a virtual slot machine pulling the handle for days, only instead of potentially getting a fraction of your money back you’re getting increasingly bitter and reactive. People weren’t meant to sit hunched over phone typing angry paragraphs over shit they won’t even think about a year from now, and once that time and energy is gone you’ll never ever get it back. Also some asshole is making more money than god off of it. Log off babe

i keep thinking i should be nicer again bc of how much i used to get praised for being so genial and accomodating. and then i remember people actually were even ruder and more awful to me when i was a doormat and i decide maybe im fine being cantankerous

for all my bellyaching radblr has actually been nicer to me lately than my first few months here when i used to agonize and bite my nails about every possible way i might be misinterpreted or accidentally upset someone. it was like the harder i tried not the rock the boat the more i rocked it. now ill just rock the boat idc we can agree or disagree ill say what i think

People detest weakness on a subconscious level tbh

honestly i think theres truth in that it genuinely seemed to piss more people off when i would wring my hands and try to be as ingratiating and gentle as possible. like i just would make people angrier the harder i tried to be nonthreatening and small.

When youre a kid youre like wtf adults are making themselves sick with poisons and when youre an adult youre like i need more poisons ASAP

give a man a fish and he'll make a fish unboxing video for a day but teach a man to fish and he'll be creating fishing-related short form video for the rest of his life

a thing that really shook me was the study where women performed worse in a math test when they were wearing a swimsuit vs a sweater whereas for men there was no difference. objectification literally diminishes your brain capacity. i can't help but wonder what we could be in a truly liberated society because there's no way that how we are raised to be objectified and to even self objectify hasn't thoroughly poisoned our brains to always underperform even in normal clothes.

Okay now think of how many sports expect women to compete in revealing uniforms

Think about how that might be effecting performance outcomes

I highly advise every woman to read ‚Objectification Theory‘ by Frederickson and Roberts (they also did the swimsuit study mentioned above to prove their assumptions). It’s a detailed explanation on how the sexualized male gaze and sexual objectification affect women‘s psychological state. The effect described above is explained by them as a result of constant body monitoring caused by self-objectification, which basically takes up a major chunk of our attentional resources and impairs our cognitive performance.

And now you have Elon Musk's Grok AI allowing Alt-Right misogynists to virtually put women in bikinis against their will. In what once was as Twitter the global town square of political discussion. It is the same attempt to keep women too focused on sexual harassment and the male gaze to focus on what is important.

We see how it impacts women's abilities to focus on academics and sports. But what about even our ability to politically engage and make political change? In both the virtual and real worlds, misogynist fascists find these outfits the best way to keep our minds off politics.

In the policy of the Argentine and Chilean military Juntas to keep leftist women political prisoners in nothing but skimpy underwear. It was not just a humiliation tactic and security precaution, although it was that. It was about exactly this- "The effect described above is explained by them as a result of constant body monitoring caused by self-objectification, which basically takes up a major chunk of our attentional resources and impairs our cognitive performance."

While women do have the freedom to wear what clothing we want. We have to ask why are there certain types of clothing, that military dictatorships think is the best weapon against women making revolution?

This very important Harvard paper by Dr. Barbara Sutton demonstrates how feminine beauty practices was literally used as torture against leftist women. As a way to control us so we couldn’t even think of politics-

In listening to women’s testimonies, I learned that feminine beauty products, including makeup, hair removal wax and nail polish, became available in at least some of the camps. Relatedly, survivor Isabel Fernández Blanco also spoke about a kind of “rehabilitation” directed to some detainees in El Olimpo: in one of the offices of this CDC, “women painted their nails, combed their hair [. . . .] I suppose that the compañeras who were in charge of taking us out and bringing us to the GT2 Office were in charge of rehabilitating us, right? But nobody ever talked about politics either, or . . . anything. As I tell you, it was mere . . . nail painting” (Memoria Abierta, Testimonio de Isabel Fernández Blanco, Buenos Aires, 2005). As many of the detainees were activists, the absence of political talk and the presence of beauty practices is especially significant. The activist body was apparently to be replaced, in the case of women, by a domesticated, conventionally beautiful, feminine body.

Survivor Graciela García said that it was at ESMA that some women started to engage in certain beauty practices, such as the removal of body hair and the use of cosmetics. The result contrasted with the look that Graciela described as typical for women in her activist circles: jeans, sneakers, and sweaters that were similar to the attire of activist men. Graciela explained how in a situation as grim as the one in the camps, it makes sense to look for something that “would make you smile.” She added: “I think that it was one of the first times that we used makeup, and waxed ourselves, and looked at the color of our hair” (Memoria Abierta, Testimonio de Graciela García, Buenos Aires, 2007). While many beauty practices function as disciplining mechanisms—and can be conceived as particularly oppressive when performed to live up to repressors’ expectations—Graciela also hinted at the pleasurable aspect of these practices, of this particular way of “caring” for the body in a place where the body was the site of torture, humiliation and pain. In its capacity to produce a smile, beauty could also acquire a more resistant meaning associated with survival.

i hate viruses so fucking much. literally getting attacked by a fucking shape. a concept. consumes no energy. responds to no stimuli. its only existence is to fuck with you. like fuck offf

“You will find that the priest who damns you is a man; that the legislator who oppresses you is a man, that the husband who reduces you to an object is a man; that the libertine [anarchist] who harasses you is a man; that the capitalist who enriches himself with your ill- paid work and the speculator who calmly pockets the price of your body, are men.”

— Anna Maria Mozzoni, one of the most popular Italian feminist theorists and activists of the nineteenth century, 1895.

I find it so insane when women don’t leave their bfs for raising their voices at them like immediately if a man is raising his voice at you you need to beat the hell out of him rob him and then throw him into a river like the fuck

Just one time is once too many you all need to know this. Get the bar above hell at ONCE

it is so crazy that emaciation is considered a normal beauty standard for women lol like people never really talk about it in that way its just “unrealistic beauty standards!” No be specific. People think its normal and healthy for women to have bones jutting out like prisoners of war. And that just gets thrown in with things like “unrealistic beauty standards so bad :(“ the average person is so used to seeing emaciated women in media it doesnt even register when women look like skeletons. Like this is way worse than too much photoshop and bbls and makeup….

like society (tm) is fully trolling by not acknowledging this and doing the whole “some people are naturally skinny” thing its never PEOPLE its women theyre talking about. If a male celebrity had the same BMI as the average female celebrity he’d be strapped down to a bed on an IV drip.
