I’m not saying Zack should look a specific way, but I’d like to know if he’s supposed to be 13-16 in those pictures (I hope you understand). I’m only choosing those ages because Zack met ASG when he was 13 and Angeal and Genesis died/disappeared when he was 16.

Lucrecia being the one who actually gave Sephiroth his name.
His name means "Tree of Life".
After the tree where she first had her picnic with Vincent.

I think it's a name Hojo would give to his son as the name means 10 qualities of god.
Sephiroth is the plural of Sephira (spellings vary), and here they are:
Definitely suits a mad scientist trying to create a godlike offspring.
Now that you mention it… I think Lucrecia would name his son based on a close person that meant so much to her, and I think that would be Grimoire.
And if he was still named Sephiroth regardless, I like the idea of his last name being Grimoire. Or even better, Sephiroth Grimoire Crescent.
…Grimoire looks a lot like Sephiroth too but that’s for another time.
That would make so much sense. Grimoire was someone she knew, trusted and followed when she was a young lady in the unforgivingly toxic and hostile workplace that is ShinRa.
He chose to die, so she could live and even many years later this event guided her through the major decisions in her life.
But let’s be real, Hojo would never agree to name his son after another scientist.

“Erm you can’t tell us to evacuate to safety because of an attack, bro. Not official orders 🤓”
And then he had to run over to help them BY HIMSELF and they only fought beside him because they could see how hard he was fighting, NOT because he gave them an order.
Guy had no power in Shinra. He had STATUS. But status is NOT the same as power. He was a glorified attack dog who won people over through his reputation. But not because he actually had the authority or rank to command them.
Military and SOLDIER are different departments. Sure Lazard steals Heidegger's best men, but Sephiroth can only be a stubborn little shit who gets what he wants when it comes to SOLDIER. Not infantry
Sure, he’s got those “unofficial 1st class privileges” as they’re so fondly labeled (thank Lazard’s leniency) like refusing missions, but he has to commit treason by subterfuge to get what he wants for a reason. SOLDIERS were dogs with fancier collars.
I see SOLDIERs as a SWAT team. They can’t command the army and they still have to obey their orders.
Privileges in ShinRa were only limited to Directors. And Lazard used his privileges to make his men less miserable. But other than that, ShinRa had everyone in the iron fist of totalitarian regime.
Even Tseng, the favourite person of Rufus ShinRa, seemed to be pretty oppressed and abused.

Thoughts on Lazard?
I’ve read bits and pieces. I learned today that it’s actually going to be included in the new Nojima Novella coming out.
As for Lazard, it’s always good to see him. I find it interesting that the translation here refers to him as “General” instead of “Director”. Guess that puts an end to the “General Sephiroth” fanlore lol Lazard’s the one running the show.
Apparently he did really well in military! And even in that short novella focusing on Cloud’s childhood, Lazard is still portrayed to be super kind, especially to those he outranks.
Also, while Lazard was in the military, it’s possible Sephiroth wasn’t. Maybe he was a SOLDIER (who are separate from military, it’s mentioned in several places including this story) from the start, because normally SOLDIER is someone who did so well in military they we chosen to be given Jenova cells.
I can’t stop thinking about this, somebody just end my misery.
