“Look at how cute he is! We can’t just set him back in the streets!”

“Boost, this is a barrack. That is a Tooka-kitten. Where is it going to sleep?” Sinker rubs his hands over his forehead. “With me of course!” Boost responds, scratching the sleeping ball of fur curled up in his lap. “Unless you want him sometimes to.” Sinker just shakes his head. “But, Snapper is really soft.” Boost continues. The other trooper chuckles. “Snapper? You want to keep the little guy and that the best you could come up with for a name?”

“Hey it fits him just nicely! You should have seen how many times he snapped at Comet when we were trying to catch him. He’s going to have scars” Boosts looks down proudly. “Already a perfect fit for the Pack don’t ya think?”

Sinker leans against the wall of the barrack and sighs. “Vod, we go through this every time. How are you going to feed it? Who is going to watch it on our campaigns? You can’t just let him roam free when we are gone. What if he scratches things up?” Boost just waves at him dismissively. “Ah we will figure it out! You don’t think half the boys wouldn’t fall in love with this face the moment they saw Snapper.” He picks up the tooka kitten, turning it toward Sinker. “Look at the sweet little eyes Boo. Look at them straight and tell him he has to go back.”

“Alright. Sorry Snapper. You have to go back”

“You weren’t looking in his eyes!”

“Do I really have to?”

“To prove you are the heartless monster you are trying to be, yes.”

Sinker sighs, taking Snapper from Boost. “Okay look.” He looks into the sleepy, slightly confused eyes of the tooka. “As cute as you are little guy, you can’t stay here with us. It’s just too much, chaotic as it is. You wouldn’t sleep well. And Warthog- he is one of our other vode- tends to make a bunch of racket.” He smiles and sits, placing the kitten back in Boosts lap before giving him a scratch behind the ear. “Hey! He is pretty soft.” He chuckles, Snappers head just rubbing against his hand. “See! I told you! Can we keep him please? If the others agree.” 

“The others might agree. But you know I won’t.” A rough voice from behind them said. “Oh! Commander we were just-”

Commander Wolffe held up his hand. “I know what you boys were doing. And you know the answer already.” Both men were silent, watching Snapper play with a loose string from the blanket he was wrapped up in. “Sir we can’t just leave him out on the street somewhere.” Boost pleads. “He’s just a baby.”

“Yeah and soft. Feel hi-”

Wolffe just stretches his hands out to take the kitten. “I’ll take him then.” Boost and Sinker share looks, before gently wrapping up the kitten and placing him in the Commanders outstretched arms. “Be careful with him sir.” Boost says. “He’s just a little guy.” Wolffe nods, leaving the barracks with the little bundle.

Wolffe makes his ways up the streets of Coruscant. “Those two I swear.” He says to Snapper, who looks back at him curiously. “If I had a droid for every time they tried bringing one of you little hairballs into the barracks to keep, we’d have army three times the sizes of the Seppies.” Snapper just tilts his head. “I mean, not that I am against having pets. But it’s the rules.” He continues, “the GAR has these for a reason, right?” He stops and gives his traveling companion a scratch. “Man you are soft.” He smiles. Snapper meows in response, pawing at the Commanders hand. “You know, we have been having a bit of a rodent problem in the barracks lately.” Wolffe says. “Having someone like you around would be valuable.” He looks around. “I mean, much better for you there anyways. These alleyways look terrible. Maybe I can eventually petition with the general to have useful Tookas in the barracks, strictly for pest control of course.” He rubs Snappers tummy. “Until then its the streets for you I’m afraid.” Snapper just stares. “Don’t look at me like that. Its really not up to me”

Wolffe is silent for a moment before rolling his eyes, turning to head back to the barracks. “Okay fine. But just for the night. You’re out first thing tomorrow.”
