So many people are hating on Tom, but I was genuinely hoping for an episode surrounding him. They kinda made him cause trouble (unintentionally) in 2/3 episodes. But there was something there that could’ve been explored.

Him talking to Taylor and her saying that she’ll always be there for him and knowing about his sick brother. Him saying that his brother being sick is kinda making him struggle with his grades. Then saying he’ll ask Rochelle for help after he saw that Taylor and Yuwen were about to get in an argument.

Then he asked Rochelle for help tutoring (wasn’t really tutoring) but ended up getting her in trouble because he needed her help cheating.

THEN, when Vanessa found him and they were in the car, he said that he liked Vanessa and wishes she was his mom (or something along those lines)

Like what?? There was definitely a plot there that could’ve been explored (sick brother, maybe absent/emotionally unavailable mother, unable to focus on school because of his sick brother, brother bond)😭😭

So maybe Cake thought she was giving M-Cron some sort of shocking confession but… We know he saw her on Cheers, where she made an appearance in her default 'Cat-Blob' form.

M-Cron already knew Cake is stretchy and he knew what her Main Form is and he knew that she's a cat. And he was just all "hell yeah, Cake! Stand up for yourself! Wanna go on a swan boat ride with me?"

I think it's pretty clear that Cake was afraid that M-Cron wouldn't accept her if she wasn't in her 'Babe' Form and that this fear was a huge cause of her insecurities and stress and why both that form and the kiss felt 'wrong' to her.

But by all accounts, M-Cron, much like the Karmic Worm, likes her shapeshifting as a core part of her self (without reducing her into a circus novelty like the Cheers live studio audience) and would accept her in every form.

It's just that M-Cron being an Attractive Normal Human Man makes all of Cake's anxieties about her personhood and identity start to flare up, while the Karmic Worm being weird and magical does a better job of making her feel like it's okay for her to be weird and magical. I think you can very clearly see it how in just trying to talk to M-Cron makes Cake kinda regress in her self-acceptance compared to how she is with Karmic Worm.

And not because M-Cron has indicated to Cake that he has any problem with her being herself as much as it is… the whole world he lives in is one that makes it hard for Cake to accept herself.

But… it is possible that with Cake now spending her time both in Fionnaworld and in the Undergrowth, and having the support of the Karmic Worm, that this will change one day (maybe even... transform?). Because, yeah, I am still holding out hopes for a Worm/Cake/M-Cron OT3. As the Karmic Worm himself said…
