How Should I Begin?

@soft-october-night

I'm Ren! Bi She/Her, 35. Living on Ao3 as soft_october for all your AU needs. The Terror brainrot is deep and terminal

I can’t speak for other social media webbed sites but I really enjoy how tumblr seems to just completely spin a wheel on whatever media is hot right now. Like yeah sometimes it’s a new show that’s big and actively coming out but also sometimes there will be a solid month where half my dash is Columbo memes. Defy authority. Get really into an book from the 1800s. Watch shows that haven’t aired in 40 years. Celebrate the anniversary of the Boston Molasses Flood. Become unmarketable

oh shit i almost missed it!

recommending interview with the vampire to the heated rivalry fans this, recommending black sails to the heated rivalry fans that - what about recommenending the terror to the heated rivalry fans as it actually has not only homosexuality but also winter sports

hey did you know people have been like 'ugh I hate MODERN FASHION why don't women dress like women any more' for literally hundreds of years

While making queer historical romances, I ended up researching how gender lines might plausibly be blurred in historical fashion and what the 'limits' might be before the wearer was really pushing scandal.

But I'm also interested in going FURTHER back, because even in the same culture and location, clothing we think of as very gendered nowadays often totally reverses. (Big surprise: pink and lace aren't actually biologically linked to your junk.)

Anyway, I just unlocked a blog with some highlights and fun bits from the research I did, where these pictures are from! Read for: women in trousers, boys in heels, and offensively soft 1763 boys who turn out to be 'improperly' bold women

What do you mean you can’t find a job? Have you looked on Indeed? What about Linkedin? You should try Upwork. How about Rise? Have you tried Jobera? Take a look on Dribbble. You GOTTA be on Jooble, dude. Get on Jooble. Jooble has it for you.

this is one reason why dishonored is so good. on your boat there is a guy who was kind of a deity three weeks ago but since then has basically been doing nothing but eating your chips and repeatedly asking to use your phone to text your ex-situationship's dad to ask if he is down to fuck yet. and it turns out he got human-sacrificed in the Ötzi Times so you kind of feel bad asking him to knock it the fuck off but he is DEMOLISHING your talk-and-text plan, which is very limited, since it is 1852

simply cannot ever resist what i call the little mermaid or the tin man or the pinnochio plot, the one about a character who is either inhuman or human but outside in some way, constantly searching for whatever it is that they consider to be the quintessential proof of humanity, preoccupied by it so deeply that they fail to realize the proof is in the act and fact of the search itself

MAYBE WE’LL FIND IT IF WE BOTH LOOK

One thing they don't tell you about parenthood is that it makes the plot of Mrs Doubtfire make even less sense than it did to you before
