it kills me when i can tell someone’s gone into late stage selfshipping

this is a neutral to positive statement btw!

late stage-self shipping to me is like:

1. you've stopped necessarily treating self-shipping as a means to gain visibility in the community, and rather
2. the primary goal of your self-shipping is really to bring joy to yourself (good!) and that's evidenced by a lack of care to external support beyond a small group of friends

and by the second thing, i mean, your tastes are not at all moved by the general ebbs and flows of the fandom at large and instead become more and more refined

your writing is very clearly self-indulgent, your aus become more and more esoteric and hyperspecific, the 'reader' is well defined and definitely not geared towards being generally insertable but to display a very specific dynamic, the fandom can get quieter but you have not gotten quieter, etc, etc, you engage in other media but your comments will often compare characters in that media to that One, and most of all, you've stopped worrying about who and how many are indulging you which i think is the best thing of all
