Some new fandom news: Vivziepop has announced that she is going to explore Alastor's sexuality in the show.

One day, he will understand he is asexual and what it means.

As someone bonded to him and who knows him very well, I'm leaning toward the possibility of Alastor exploring his sexuality, but not in a way that means he's going to be in a romantic relationship.

Amir himself recently on TikTok said that Vivziepop herself sees Alastor as aroace, even though in the show he’s only confirmed asexual.

Truthfully, I can see this going in one or both ways:

1. He'll learn what asexuality is and he'll be more comfortable in knowing why he doesn't have an interest in sex. Self-acceptance.

And MAYBE

2. he will find someone that he trusts and can get close to and explore a QPR type situation.

Knowing Alastor and how averse he is to exploring his emotions, the second one is really hard to come by but not impossible.

It's also possible that he doesn't want to have sex, but he is not repulsed by it, and is okay with just the idea of it like I am.

it's funny because I asked my Alastor one time if he read smut, and after I explained what smut was, he said yes, he's read romance novels before and isn't bothered by it, but only if it's part of the plot. he doesn't like it if it's in there gratuitously which I agree.

Either way this will be very interesting to see, and as Alastor is someone emotionally very closed off and with deep (rightful) trust issues, this will take some time.

when i worked at cracker barrel (vision darkens for a moment) we all got custom aprons with our names embroidered on them but not for 90 days bc the barrel isn't gonna invest in custom embroidery if you can't hack it. so until you get your own aprons you wear an apron that says 'rising star' on it. the issue being every single other person who works there is wearing aprons with their real names. so every single day for 3 months customers would be like 'can we get a table for 4? thank you, Rising Star. and what an interesting name!'

Rising Star would genuinely be a very lovely name but it wasn't mine and I did just think it was funny that the power of the Apron Name had such command.

A little Alastor ramble from your friendly neighbourhood aroace! (I know Alastor isn't aroace only asexual, before I get this comment a thousand times over)

The scene between Vox and Alastor at the bar was a hard watch for me.

I've seen multiple interpretations of that scene, and realistically until we hear Alastor's actual POV, and not just some petty performance he puts on to appear superior, we'll never truly know what happened in his cute little deer noggin. But media is an artform, and art is subjective, so I'll put my five cents in nonetheless. (Not to mention the usual jazz of viewing whatever form of media you come across through an inadvertently subjective filter shaped by your personal experiences, but I DIGRESS).

ANYHOO. Seeing the way Alastor spoke to Vox in that scene pre-proposal was so interesting to me. I have genuinely never seen him be so gentle and quiet when spending time with someone — apart from maybeee a few interactions with Niff in s1 — usually he needs to be either entirely in the background Observing 👁️👁️ or he needs to be the star of the show. But here, he was mellow, I'm tempted to even say he was comfortable.

His smile isn't a forced grimace, and for the first time it doesn't look as though it's stitched in place. Vox made a friendly jab at him, and Alastor giggled. Quietly.

Alastor is a highly egotistical being, as we all know. Saying this means a lot. Vox meant something to him back then, but doesn't anymore.

"I respected you" Alastor tells Vox, and call me a sap, but I actually believe him. I think Al found a genuine connection that he cherished in the only way he knew how. Respect. It's really rare to see Alastor interact with someone, and not view them as either a hurdle to overcome or look for any way possible where he can use them for his own gain.

As the scene progresses, Alastor is fairly comfortable, until the moment Vox reaches out and touches him; and I think that's when his little aroace alarm bells started going off.

If you watch the scene, as soon as Vox puts his hands on Al's shoulders, you can hear the static, which is the first sign of Al's discomfort. He never gives it away easy, because he's Alastor, but you can pick up on it, if you listen.

Oh no. Fuck no. Please no.

For those of you that don't quite get it; it's a very real and constant fear, when you're aroace that the people you care about and cherish will wind up falling in love with you. It's not even conceited, just a very deep awareness that the way you love has no capacity for romance, but you still love them with your whole heart nonetheless. It's a bit like having a sibling, I suppose. You love them so so much, but the idea of kissing them makes you want to crawl out of your skin. (btw because this is tumblr, mind your bean soup, I know it's a spectrum, SUSH UP. If it doesn't pertain to you, keeeeeeeep scroooollingggg).

Vox then asks for that partnership, all smitten, and there is a very split second of silence where Al processes what was said, and I think in that moment he also mourns the only real companionship in his afterlife that he had. Because for fuck's sake, of course. Of fucking course.

And if you know Vox — and evidence would suggest Alastor was quite familiar with his personality — you know he's ride or die. He either said yes, or no. And no would mean Vox is out for good and salty about it. He's not the kind of man who takes rejection well and certainly not the kind of man who takes the humiliation of rejection well. This is a guy who killed his way to the top to fast-track his career and have enough influence to lead a cult. This is a guy who, when told no, reaches for a knife and takes what he wants by force. There was no way to preserve their friendship from here on out.

And to Alastor, Vox was the one who ruined it.

So, here comes his reaction.

I mean DUH, obviously his reaction was not genuine joy, or even amusement. That's the most forced ass laugh I've ever heard out of Alastor (Amir did a lovely job, let's all give him all the love in the world, he deserves it).

Yep, look of someone immensely amused right there.

I mean, look at him. He's poofed up, he's recoiling, and he's going through his hair; reminiscent of his breakdown scene in s1.

Lol it's the same pose, expression and everything, mind you.

Not to mention the simple fact that Alastor's entire demeanour changed as soon as this "partnership" was proposed. Before, like I have pointed out before, Alastor was subdued, quiet, suggesting that he did not feel the need to put on a performance for Vox. The loud boisterous showmanship the Radio Demon is known for however comes right back out after, almost immediately. His guard is up, he's engineering his reaction, he's putting on a show.

If you watched the scene, I'm sure you've all felt it, Al's reaction felt blown out of proportion. I've seen a lot of people say "the worst he could say is no" and then play this clip of him absolutely decimating Vox. Which, I have to agree. Alastor overreacted.

He overreacted, because he was upset. Because he lost a friend, and it was Vox's fault, in his eyes. He cannot see it any other way.

"There are no friends in hell, Vincent"

I think, personally, Alastor does not merely say this to further rip into Vox. I think this is acknowledgement on his part also; realising that, realistically, there is no such thing as friendship in hell, and if there is, it definitely does not exist out there for him. Because people, at the end of the day will always want something from him that he does not wish to provide.

Be it power, influence or, in this case, romantic affection, he cannot have a friend in his life, that is in his life unconditionally.

He's a 30s guy. He doesn't understand what being asexual means, he just knows what he feels and that's what he goes by!

Alastor is a sinner, and has many many many qualities that make him a horrible person. Not being attracted to Vox isn't one.

Dassit folks!

Btw I'm a radioapple shipper ✌️

I sincerely cant remember the last time that staff rolled out a feature that improved this website in any way

What the fuck

among my least favourite conversations i regularly experience in media analysis is when you interpret something as potentially alluding to an "uncomfortable" topic and people immediately start trying to defang it. "this reads like a rape scene" "umm actually it's not rape, it's just a very intimate act of violent assault that violates the victim's sense of safety and bodily autonomy with NO 🙅 sexual connotations or elements". you do realise that's neither any better nor functionally different, right?

"this relationship resembles a traditional abusive marriage between a husband and wife" "well they're not married or heterosexual so you're wrong and an insane bigot for comparing them to such a horrible thing also" HAVE YOU NEVER HEARD OF A FUCKING METAPHOR???

its a cliche but im a slut for when a character is introduced as super chill and goofy and then you later find out theyre chill and goofy because theyre too powerful to be touched. the level 100 wizard whos already figured out everything and is just vibing now. big fan.

terfs dont target trans men the same as trans women because they view us as “lost womyn” and “confused butches” so their goal is to save us. the goal for trans women? to kill them. do you see the difference??

When I was a kid one of my moms would call her period "moon time" or "her monthlies" or shit like that and my other mom straight up stealthed it, but when I'm a dad I think I'm gonna go straight down the middle and call it Werewolf Week. Like sorry kids, dad can't roughouse right now, it's Werewolf Week

"one of my moms"

*points finger*

child of lesbiabs

I actually have six parents and three moms total but they're all straight as far as I'm aware

Polyamorous parents or divorce?

Turbo divorce

What the heck is a turbo divorce?

It's when you end up with six parents

I love that every knives out movie is based on the undeniable fact that greed will ruin people. From family to friends to religion, once money is thrown into the ring— an extravagant amount at that— the crux of it all is that there is always someone who will murder, betray, and even lie to get that wealth, and someone who will do everything to persevere and keep their good morals. To be that kindness in spite of evil.

Fucking hell Rian Johnson, I love you and that foghorn leghorn gay detective Benoit Blanc character you created

I'm not against nude dresses, I just want equality. If women show up on the red carpet wearing clingfilm and two sequins, I want men to do the same. I want to see Michael B Jordan's nipples in a mesh top. I want to see Timothy Chalamet's entire ass. I want to see Tom Cruise march out there wearing nothing but a strategically placed satin handkerchief to prove that he's still got it.

Until there's at least five semi-nude men at every red carped event, I suggest female movie stars all wear suits, or if they don't like suits, high-necked long-sleeved ankle-length ballgowns.

Either dress code is good with me as long as it's consistent.

Bluesky post by AJ Cousins:

'They specifically asked me if I knew where the Hmong families lived on my street & in the neighborhood." Lugert-Thom responded, "I don't know anything about that" & she said they then asked, "Well, what about the Asian families?"

“I was a bit shaken & a bit shocked of what ! was asked to do."

Thread by Will Stancil in response to AJ’s post:

Having seen several abductions up close, it is really hard to convey how much the thing they're doing is roaming in military convoys until they see someone who is alone and isn't white, and then jumping out in large numbers, pulling them into a van, and screeching off, all in 90 seconds or so.

They don't know who they're taking because:

- they don't talk to them

- they're random pedestrians

It is literally indistinguishable from a kidnapping when you see it, except there are so many of them, and they are more heavily armed and armored than any kidnapper would ever be.

I know we aren't all fans of the police here but the difference between this and an ordinary police arrest or detainment is night and day. There's no "You're under arrest" and then sitting in the car while they ask questions. You are simply disappeared in seconds. No record of what happened.

If you see one, the most important thing to say is "WHAT'S YOUR NAME" because otherwise the person is gone for good, maybe. I witnessed one in an alley as the sole pursuit car, I was the only witness, I froze for a second and didn't shout it in time, and the guy is just... gone now. I'll never know.

I know some have been a little unnerved at the aggressive following and noisemaking tactics of the observers. What they don't realize is that it's necessitated by what ICE is doing. You have seconds and you need as many eyes on them as possible, and as many people trying to get key info as possible.

sometimes I talk about disliking copyright/IP on here, and I always try to stress that the reason these conversations matter is because copyright law is used in real life to hurt real people. I want to highlight a current example of this happening which I haven't seen talked about on my dash yet.

Solar Being is a small business run by two natural hair sculpting artists. their art has gone viral online a few times, and one of their most recognizable creations are their shaped hair puffs:

recently, their business has been under attack by frivolous DMCA & copyright infringement complaints by a competing company. Solar Being has had to close pre-orders for their hair extensions and redirect the funding they raised through a kickstarter campaign into now building a legal defense fund, at the expense of their allocated labor and production budget. in the meantime, they can't even post uncensored photos of their star puffs to social media without facing copyright claims. this issue goes beyond just promotional materials and is also affecting any posts where they (or their customers!) have their hair puffs visible.

on Solar Being's legal defense page they say they "believe [geometric hairstyle] designs should remain free for others to use, reinterpret, and express through their creative and commercial endeavors". and if these copyright infringement complaints are held up, it will likely affect the rights of other natural hair sculpting artists to create designs like this.

if you'd like to support Solar Being's legal fund they're accepting donations now, and I'd recommend supporting them through social media as well. I'm not personally associated with Solar Being and am just repeating what they've already said through their website and social media.

lots of people around copyright/IP discussions like to talk about supporting artists, and if you want direct that supportive energy somewhere productive I feel this situation is one that deserves your attention.
