When Israel captured the Nazi mass murderer Adolf Eichmann in 1960, the Jewish state was condemned by the international community, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and the Soviet Union. Even though these nations executed countless Nazis on foreign soil and occupied many countries in Europe, the UN passed Resolution 138 condemning Israel and warning that Eichmann’s arrest had “undermined international peace.”
The Argentinian politicians who knowingly harbored Nazis compared Israel to “regimes universally condemned,” which led to violent pogroms against the country’s Jewish community.
The New York Post and the Washington Post joined the choir. The Times accused Israel of “inverse racism,” while the Christian Science Monitor compared Israel’s willingness to act against Jew killers abroad to Nazi Germany which also, um, acted abroad.
Today they’re making movies, writing books, and publish graphic novels about this. They celebrate it as a triumphs of good vs. evil. None of these stories mention the condemnation. Same goes for the raid on Entebbe.
So don’t be disheartened by all the noise you’re hearing from the UN, the media, and the shit eaters we mistakenly call professors, journalists, and actors.
Their noise will soon be forgotten. Even by them. Just remember: there’s only one appropriate reply to their screeching.

I am not an artist, but I’m a writer and I’d like to know about different types of paint.
What are the differences between things like goache, watercolor, tempera, acrylic, and oil paint? I know that they’re different bases for the pigment, but I’m asking more about the properties of each medium and how you choose among them.
What kind of effects can you get with one that you can’t get from the others?
When you think, “hmm, I want to paint this,” and you have a choice between different types of paint, what makes you say “I want to use this type of paint, but not that type of paint”?
i can get plain facts about different paints from research, but that won’t explain the thinking behind how an artist chooses among them for different paintings. So I’m just going to throw this into the tumblr void and hope some answers come back. Thanks!

i don’t know how to explain to my non-jewish audience what it means that two torah scrolls were destroyed in an arson attack but what i can tell you is that during the los angeles wildfires, three staff at the synagogue in pasadena made 4+ trips each back into the building to rescue torah scrolls while the fire was close enough that ashes were falling in the parking lot.
what i can tell you is that we have a holiday once a year where we hold the scrolls and hug them and dance around them. what i can tell you is that they are written with love by hand by trained scribes who take exquisite care to make sure each word, each letter, is perfect. when we read from them we do not touch the parchment directly so that it won’t be harmed by the oils from our fingers.
we make beautiful clothing for our torah scrolls, embroidered cloth coverings and shining worked metal crowns to sit atop them or carved wood cases plated with gold and silver. the torah is to us the words of the living God, the tree of life, the record of who are and where we’re going, and the torah scroll is our most holy ritual object.
the torah scroll never touches the floor. if it is dropped accidentally, everyone in the room must fast for forty days in mourning. the desecration of a torah scroll is the utmost level of desecration that can be done to a jewish community, short of killing its members. nazis burnt and destroyed torah scrolls as part of their campaign of terror against the us even before widescale mass deportations began. in ancient times, the romans wrapped the rabbis who led our community in torah scrolls when they burnt them at the stake.
this past shabbat, in the middle of the night, a synagogue in jackson, mississippi was intentionally set on fire. the library was burnt to ashes and five torah scrolls were damaged, with two of completely destroyed.
i don’t know how many books were burnt, how many jewish holy texts and how many stories of jewish life and philosophy and love and resilience flew up with the smoke. i do know that the library was where the congregation had shabbat services and torah study. it was a sacred space. this is not the first time that people who hate us have destroyed our sacred spaces and our holy texts and our torah scrolls in order to terrorize us. i dearly wish it was the last.

I’d say usually kids are too intimidated to say no when cops ask if they can come in. Also any police officer can make up a warrant exception, exigent circumstances, plain view, etc.; the odds of someone 19 years old able to coherently invoke the 4th amendment with all the right words is pretty low.
They’re like vampires; you can’t invite them in. If they make a request, it’s because they don’t think they can force you to do it, so try saying no (politely). Ask them to leave the property and the curtilage.
I mean, probably they got a noise complaint and they don’t really want to deal with this, so you can avoid trouble by turning down the music and being polite and politely refusing to let them inside. If you don’t give them an excuse, they will leave.
The thing about the 4th amendment is that it’s more holes than protection these days. The war on drugs and cops as traffic enforcers both have shredded big parts of it, there are huge holes for warrant exceptions, and the rest is torn up by the reality of personal data stored by private companies.
If you wore only the 4th Amendment, you’d be lucky if it covered your ass.
That’s actually a fucking sick fashion idea. Garments that represent the fundamental rights Americans are guaranteed, with huge sections missing spelling out what’s been taken from us.
Fourth amendment dress with STOP AND FRISK removing the whole back, TERRY down the side, COMMUNITY PROTECTION over the stomach, PLAIN VIEW turning part of the skirt into tatters.
Sixth amendment pants turned into scraps outlining LAWYER on one leg and DAWG on another.
Sixth amendment garment that is nothing except the word MIRANDA with everything outside it removed.
3rd amendment dress is 100% fine and normal
